💚 January is Glaucoma Awareness Month
Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” because it can cause vision loss before you even notice symptoms. But here’s the good news: early detection can make all the difference.
👁️ Get your eyes checked regularly
👁️ Know your family history
👁️ Protect your vision with routine screenings
Glaucoma affects millions of people, yet many don’t know they have it. This month, let’s spread the word and encourage our loved ones to prioritize their eye health.
Healthy vision starts with awareness.

Feeding and nourishing your baby is an important bonding experience for infants and caregivers. That’s why the Doctors Hospital of Laredo (DHL) Feeding Clinic is dedicated to helping infants and their families establish positive feeding experiences. The DHL Feeding Clinic is an outpatient program specializing in therapy services for infants and children who have difficulty with bottle, breast or spoon feedings.
“We are proud to offer these services for our young patients,” said Virgilio Vazquez-Garcia, M.S., CCC-SLP, director of rehabilitation services. “Our speech therapists have extensive experience and training in neonates and feeding disorders. We follow an infant-driven, family-centered approach in which positive, pleasant mealtimes are the primary goal for our patients.”
Services are available for infants from birth to 24 months. DHL speech-language pathologists assess and address all aspects of feeding and respond to each child’s individual needs. Patients may be referred from the neonatal intensive care unit after discharge or by their pediatrician. If you have concerns about your infant’s feeding skills, speak with your pediatrician to request a referral to the DHL Feeding Clinic.
