We are delighted to welcome the UT Health San Antonio physician assistant (PA) students and faculty. The collaboration between Doctors Hospital and UT Health San Antonio School of Health Professions offers local physician assistant students at the UT Education and Research Center at Laredo a unique opportunity to observe and engage with our respiratory team.
As part of UT Health San Antonio’s Master of PA Studies program, which expanded to Laredo in mid-2021, students complete rigorous classroom coursework before rotating through real-world experiences in healthcare settings such as ours. Congratulations to the first graduate from the Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehab program, Raquel Estrada. Ms. Estrada completed her 72-session intensive cardiac rehab, which included a comprehensive series of exercise, nutrition and stress management sessions.

Meet Ashley Salazar, a passionate Charge Nurse in the ICU, who has been a part of Doctors Hospital of Laredo for the past eight years.
"I chose to work in the Intensive Care Unit because it allows me to care for patients during their most vulnerable moments and build meaningful relationships with them and their families. There’s a deep level of respect in walking with someone through critical illness. You don’t just treat patients, you serve neighbors, friends and families," Ashley shared. "My family has been my constant inspiration and support, reminding me daily why I do this work. Their love and faith in me have guided every step of this journey, and I carry that purpose into every patient interaction."
Pursuing her Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) degree was a step in expanding her clinical knowledge and continuing to grow in her ability to manage complex patient needs.

Feeding and nourishing your baby is a special bonding time between infants and caregivers. That’s why Doctors Hospital of Laredo Feeding Clinic is dedicated to supporting infants and their families in establishing positive feeding experiences.
The Doctors Hospital of Laredo Feeding Clinic is an outpatient clinic that specializes in therapy services for infants and children who have difficulty with bottle, breast or spoon feedings. Services are available for infants from birth to 24 months old. Our speech-language pathologists assess and address all aspects of feeding and respond to the child’s individual needs. Patients can be referred from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) following discharge or by their pediatrician.
