Bio

Dr. Hochman has served Laredo as a board certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist since 1999. He grew up in Urbana, Illinois where he attended the University of Illinois. After graduating summa cm laude, he moved to Chicago where he attended the University of Illinois Medical School where he graduated with honors and served as class president. After his internship in Chicago, Dr. Hochman completed his residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York where he served as chief resident. He completed a two-year fellowship program in clinical and surgical retina at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in addition to a fellowship at the Retina Specialists of Boston and the Eye Research Institute of Retina Foundation.

Dr. Hochman has also completed advanced training in diabetic and retinal disease at the Central Brasileiro de Cirurgia de Olhos Hospital in Brazil. Prior to moving to Laredo, he was on staff at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in the Emergency Ward and Eye service as a retinal consultant.

Dr. Hochman is a board certified Ophthalmologist by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Hochman has a special interest in diabetic eye disease prevention and treatment and retinal disorders. He has practiced in Laredo since 1999, and started his private practice in 2002. Dr. Hochman provides medical treatments for many eye diseases. With state of the art diagnostic equipment and a private surgery center, Dr. Hochman also performs many different surgical and laser procedures of the eye, including cataract microsurgery, retina, vitreous, and diabetic laser and microsurgery, and glaucoma laser and microsurgery. He is the only doctor practicing and operating in Laredo that can perform many of these advanced techniques, through extensive training, study, and certification. He has performed more than 25,000 surgical procedures throughout his career in his effort to preserve the vision of Laredoans.
