🚨 Transportation Scam Alert – Stay Protected! 🚨

We want to advise our community about a new scam reported by one of our patients.

Brief Summary (HIPAA-compliant):
A patient recently experienced a situation where their assigned ride requested personal contact information and later called that it’s going to be a $30 fee. The patient declined the offer, confirmed their insurance covers transportation, and a formal report was filed. Transportation arrangements have since been safely adjusted to a professional medical transport provider.

Key Takeaways:
✅ Transportation through your health insurance is fully covered.
✅ Never pay a driver directly — they are paid by your insurance provider.
✅ If someone requests payment, refuse politely and report it immediately.

While this is the first incident of its kind we’ve encountered, it highlights the importance of educating our patients about their benefits and ensuring they are aware of potential scams — especially for those who may be more vulnerable.

🚖 Calling All Laredo Taxi Drivers! 🚖

Laredo Health Promotores is looking to collaborate with local taxi cabs to help our community get to the places that matter most — doctor’s appointments, pharmacies, clinics, and more.

Many in Laredo face big transportation barriers — high gas prices, life events, or health and safety concerns that prevent them from driving. That’s why we offer transportation assistance to those who qualify… but demand is growing, and we want to meet it.

We’re seeking reliable taxi partners for last-minute rides and scheduled trips to help patients access the care they need.

✅ Requirements:

Valid Driver’s License
Current Certificate of Insurance
City of Laredo Taxi Registration
Professionalism & Confidentiality
Safety-first mindset
Good communication

🎃 We're back with our 2nd Annual Halloween Health Fair in collaboration with City Councilmember Gilberto Gonzalez! 🧡🩺

We’re currently looking for local nonprofits, community partners, and small businesses to join us in making this event even more impactful!
