Community inclusion encompasses relationships, friends, neighbors, mentors, coworkers, and communities that see people for who they are — not just the supports they receive.
When we strengthen natural supports, we strengthen identity, confidence, and opportunity. Inclusion becomes lived, not prescribed.
Let’s build communities where everyone belongs because everyone is valued, connected, and included.

Why ‘One-Size-Fits-All’ Assistive Tech For Those with Developmental Disabilities Doesn’t Work

In this video, we explore the difference between uniformity vs. unity in assistive technology and remote supports. Treating everyone the same may seem inclusive—but real inclusion means designing person-centered supports that meet individual needs, promote independence, and support community integration.

Learn why personalized assistive technology leads to better outcomes for people with disabilities—and how thoughtful remote supports can empower, not restrict.

Inclusion isn’t sameness. It’s unity.

📢 Sensory needs don’t disappear in adulthood. 📢

At Ihoma Healthcare, we use the S.P.A.C.E. Assessment (Sensory Planning and Assessment for Customized Environments) to intentionally design spaces for adults with developmental disabilities.

Sensory integration challenges don’t end after childhood. Adults continue to experience difficulties with noise, lighting, touch, movement, and environmental demands—and when spaces aren’t designed with this in mind, regulation, participation, and well-being are impacted.

The S.P.A.C.E. Assessment allows us to move beyond guesswork by identifying the purpose of a space, understanding individual sensory needs, and intentionally matching design features and equipment to support calm, engagement, and independence.

Thoughtful design isn’t a luxury—it’s an intervention.
And it matters at every age.
