Being the “responsible one” can feel heavy—especially when everyone else has opinions, not solutions.

Memory loss can be hard to spot — especially when the person experiencing it doesn’t realize anything is wrong.

As Kim Saberi, MSW, shared in our conversation:
“People who don’t remember… often don’t remember that they don’t remember.”

That’s why early screening matters. One gentle approach? Suggest going together:
🧠 “Let’s both get a memory check — like an annual wellness visit for our brain.”

Because memory care starts with awareness — not crisis.

Waiting for a crisis feels easier… until you’re Googling senior care at 2 a.m. Planning helps.

You can love your parent deeply and still feel tired, frustrated, or unsure. Welcome to being human.

The holidays can feel heavy when you’re caring for a parent. If Christmas looks different this year, you’re not alone.

This Christmas, we wish you moments of warmth and connection with those who mean the most to you.

For those who have lost a loved one this year, we share in your sorrow. This season may feel heavier, and that’s okay. You are not alone.

May we all be extra grateful for the people surrounding us—and gentle with ourselves as we move through the holidays together. 🤍

If you’re overwhelmed, it’s not because you’re doing it wrong. It’s because you’re doing everything.

Are you stuck in the caregiver guilt loop?

You lose your patience — then feel guilty.
You need a break — then feel guilty.
You know they need more help — but even thinking about assisted living or home care brings a wave of guilt.

💛 This doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re overwhelmed — and you need support.

That’s why I created Navigating the Golden Years — an online course to help you understand what’s happening, explore real options, and move forward without shame or fear.

✨ You don’t have to do this alone.📘 Start learning at [navacarecourses.org](https://www.navacarecourses.org/)

There’s no instruction manual for caring for a parent. If there were, it’d be at least 900 pages long.

Loving a parent doesn’t cancel out exhaustion. Caregiving is hard—even superheroes need naps.

Years ago, I watched my mom care for her sister while she was battling cancer — and then for my uncle, too. For months, she was caregiving around the clock with no outside help.

She never asked for a break, but I could see how much it was taking from her. And I remember thinking… I wish there was something I could do.

At the time, I didn’t even know private duty home care was an option. Even just four hours a day could’ve made such a difference — for rest, relief, or a moment of peace.

That experience is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping families understand what’s possible.

You don’t have to do it all alone. There is help — and people who care.

I created Navigating the Golden Years so other families don’t have to live with “I wish I had known.”If you’re caring for an aging parent and not sure what kind of support is possible, start here: navacarecourses.org.

Years ago, had I known our family could’ve hired a caregiver to come in — even for just four hours a day to give my mom a break — we would’ve done it in a heartbeat.

My mom never asked for help, but looking back, I know how much she carried. I wish we had offered her relief — a quiet night of sleep, a simple grocery run without worry, a moment to breathe.

It wasn’t until I worked in home care that I realized how many options we had… we just didn’t know.

This course was created so you can know — and make empowered choices, before you’re looking back with regret.
