Our mission is promoting historic preservation, education & patriotism. DAR is the nation's largest women's service organization with 190,000 members. Would you like to join us? Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. Eligible service includes Military Service, Patriotic Service supporting independence, Civil Service, and Spanish and French service in support of independence. Some served in militias, while others enlisted with the Continental Army; Some came from big cities and others from small towns; some were soldiers, sailors or spies, while others were civilian officials or behind-the-scenes supporters who provided food, clothing, or medical care. We welcome your membership inquiries and can assist you in locating your Revolutionary War Patriot ancestor.

George and Martha Washington had a love that was enduring and passionate. In honor of Valentine's Day, here is a picture of their courtship. As far as Martha was concerned, George was quite a catch! Tall, handsome and red haired, he was also an excellent dancer as well as an efficient farm manager. They married in 1859 and when the American Revolution began, Martha accompanied her husband and nursed wounded and ill soldiers during the terrible winter at Valley Forge.

Abraham Lincoln - 12 Feb 1809 to 15 April 1865
Although he was born long after the American Revolution, his influence on our nation is second only to that of George Washington. Abraham Lincoln is also related to another Patriot icon - Daniel Boone. Boone's niece married Abraham Lincoln's great uncle, also named Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln's Grandfather Abraham, served in the American Revolution as did his father, and granduncle. Abraham (the elder's) son Thomas Lincoln is the President Lincoln's father.
