Happy National Speech Therapist Day! 🎉 Today we celebrate one of Sierra Health Care's own — Deanna Nanez, a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist with over 30 years of experience helping children and adults reclaim their voice, language, cognition, and ability to swallow safely.

Deanna has worked across a wide range of settings — skilled nursing facilities, home health, DD waiver programs, and public schools — bringing expert, compassionate care wherever it's needed most. She joined the Sierra Health Care family in 2019 and has been an invaluable part of our clinical team ever since.

We are incredibly grateful for Deanna and for every speech-language pathologist who transforms lives one conversation, one swallow, one word at a time. Thank you, Deanna! 💙

This Nurses Week, we're celebrating someone who has truly grown up with Sierra Health Care — Gladys Strawbridge, LPN.
Gladys joined our Sierra family on July 11, 2001, starting as a CNA. Over the years, she expanded her skills into phlebotomy, was asked to step into a CMA role in 2006, and also served as scheduler and central supply coordinator. In 2017, she made the courageous decision to pursue nursing, passing her boards in 2020 — right as the world of healthcare changed forever.
Six years into her nursing career, Gladys still shows up every day ready to learn. That spirit is what makes her extraordinary.
In her own words: "I've been a nurse for six years and learn something new every day."

We're proud to shine a spotlight on Diana Talamantes, a dedicated nurse with 25 years of experience — including 11 years in inpatient settings (8 of those as an oncology nurse), bariatric care, inpatient rehab, and the last 15 years in home health. Diana is a nationally certified medical interpreter and was nominated for the 2022 New Mexico Nursing Excellence Award in the Home Health category. 🏅

Before nursing, Diana served 7 years in the U.S. Army as a medical specialist — stationed at Fort Campbell, KY and deployed to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm/Shield with the 86th Evacuation Hospital. Her service took her from Kentucky and Tennessee to Florida and Panama City, Panama before she brought that dedication home to New Mexico.

Outside of work, Diana cherishes time with her kids and grandkids, enjoys drives, walks, and hiking, and after facing a health challenge last year, has embraced the gym with the same determination she brings to her patients every day. 💪

🎉 Happy Nurses Week! This week, we're celebrating the dedicated nurses who are at the heart of everything we do. Today we're proud to spotlight Ellen Martinez-Cue, BSN.

Ellen's journey to nursing was far from a straight line — and that's what makes her story so compelling. She earned a BA in Political Science from Seton Hall University and a paralegal certification from Montclair State before spending several years in personal injury law. When she chose to pivot to healthcare, she did it with full commitment: earning her BSN from Bloomfield College School of Nursing in 1993, making the dean's list twice while working full time as a CNA and phlebotomist. That kind of determination says everything about who she is.

Over the decades, Ellen has brought her skills to a wide range of settings — pediatrics, occupational health, healthcare education, long-term care, and now home care and hospice. Each chapter has added to the depth of knowledge and empathy she brings to patients and families every day.

When she's not working, Ellen enjoys cooking, gardening, classic rock, and spending time with family and friends back in New Jersey. She's also a diehard Yankees fan — and somehow, a Boston Bruins fan too. We'll leave that one alone. ⚾🏒

Ellen, thank you for the decades of service, the resilience, and the genuine care you bring to this work. We are honored to have you on our team.

With an incredible 33 years of nursing experience—including 28 years in home health—Erin brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and skill to everything she does. Her expertise spans pediatric care, wound care, ostomies, ports/PICC lines, and catheters… but what truly stands out is the care and dedication she shows every single day.

Erin consistently receives glowing compliments from families, patients, and providers alike and it’s easy to see why. She has a way of making people feel comfortable, supported, and truly cared for. 💙

When she’s not making a difference in patients’ lives, Erin enjoys traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, shopping, and even tackling CrossFit workouts (yes, she’s as strong as she is kind!). 💪🌼
