It’s the stories of the families served by Aprendamos over the last two decades that have shaped our journey. Meet Gail, her daughter, Hayley, and her grandkids. For the last ten years, Gail’s grandchildren have received regular services through our organization, with one of her grandchildren still receiving early intervention services today.

Having access to resources for her grandchildren was important to Gail, especially right in her hometown in Sierra County. “The therapists helped us understand behaviors, taught us new strategies, and gave us tools through one-on-one support and video classes”, Gail shared. Read Gail’s story here: https://vist.ly/4f94i

Thank you, Gail and Hayley, for being a part of the Aprendamos family for the last ten years!

Meet Tayo Ajanaku, Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine Mission Medicine Student Doctor. 🌟 Originally from Houston, TX, Tayo worked in Jamaica with Teen Challenge, a nonprofit dedicated to addiction support. While there, Tayo saw parallels with the programming and the values of osteopathic medicine. “Teen Challenge focused not only on physical symptoms but also delved deep to find the root of the problem. They nurtured personal development & spiritual growth in the program members. As I shared stories with them, I realized how this approach was truly transformative in patients' lives,” Tayo said.

These experiences have shaped Tayo and motivated her to pursue osteopathic medicine, integrating its approach with her passion for global healthcare & developing cultural competency. 💜 At Aprendamos, Tayo will be working alongside our team to gain hands-on experience in early intervention, autism services, children’s therapy, family wellness, and more. When we asked Tayo what she hopes to accomplish during her time with us as a Mission Medicine Student, she said, “In my pursuit of becoming a missionary doctor, I wish to learn how to care for families on the border, and I wish to learn how to communicate with Spanish speakers to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I wish to learn how to become the Doctor that is needed and desired overseas to impact as many lives as I am able to, now as a medical student and later as a professional doctor.”

Thank you for joining Aprendamos in your Mission Medicine journey, Tayo! ✨

When Camille Plante welcomed her son Ryder into the world at just 23 weeks, she entered a journey few can imagine. Weighing barely over a pound, Ryder spent six months in the NICU, fighting every day to grow stronger.

Through Aprendamos Early Intervention, Camille and her family found the support they needed—speech, physical, and massage therapy that helped Ryder reach milestones once thought impossible. Those early experiences not only changed her son’s life but also inspired a new purpose.

Today, as the Founder and CEO of The Wee Warriors Project, Camille advocates for premature infants and families across New Mexico, ensuring they have the care, resources, and hope they deserve.
