According to Sumathi Reddy’s reporting in her recent Wall Street Journal story, “Experts across the country who treat eating disorders in adolescents and young adults say they are seeing unprecedented demand for treatment that arose during the pandemic. Inpatient units have doubled or tripled capacity, wait lists for residential programs and outpatient services are months long, and the patients coming in are sicker than ever."

We are proud to have opened the Eden Adolescent Residential Program at a time when treatment for our most vulnerable is needed. Our adolescent program offers evidence-based treatment for girls ages 12-17 struggling with a wide variety of eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This month, Eden shines a spotlight on our Director of Nursing, Megan Coenen.

Megan is an integral part of our leadership team and a dynamic hands-on presence, whose passion for client care sets the tone for all of Eden’s programs. During the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Megan was incredible at managing the logistics of infection control and precautions.

She continues to keep our clients and staff safe and informed as the Delta variant surges, avoiding any major outbreaks of illness. As part of our leadership team, Megan stands out as someone who always goes the extra mile in the service of our clients and who encourages others to show up in the same positive and creative way.

In a statement released by USA Gymnastics on social media, Biles officially withdrew on Wednesday to “focus on her mental health” one day after pulling out of the team gymnastics finals. “Simone will continue to be evaluated daily to determine whether or not to participate in next week’s individual event finals,” the statement read.
