Our Kinship Families Need Us, Right Now 💙
This is an incredibly difficult moment for many of the families we serve.
Kinship caregivers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up so children can stay safely with family, are already facing unimaginable challenges.
They figure out overnight how to raise a child, navigate trauma, find childcare, and pay bills. Many often on fixed incomes.
Now, with SNAP benefits paused for thousands of Nevada families, they’re facing an even more heartbreaking question:
How do you feed your family when the help you depend on is suddenly gone?
One caregiver told us:
“I drove by the food bank near my home. The line of cars stretched for blocks. I’ve never seen anything like it. People are desperate.”
Food banks are overwhelmed, and the calls to our office are increasing by the hour. Families needing formula, diapers, and food.
That’s why Foster Kinship has launched the Kinship Emergency Food Fund! To provide immediate grocery support to caregivers keeping children safe and loved through this crisis. We have already begun the distribution to some of our families in crisis.
