A few weeks ago I shared this beauty as a story but was exhausted and didnāt have the time to share any details. This placenta was home to a beautiful baby girl for 10 months and her mama worked so hard to bring her into this world, to the tune of roughly 48 hours in labor. I spent around 24 of those hours with her, her partner and her own mother š
Every birth that I have the privilege to be present at is a learning experience for me. Whether it be medically, holistically, physically, emotionally or my personal favorite, becoming more in-tune with myself and who I am as a doula! I have spent years thinking that itās not my responsibility to be an advocate, but instead teaching them how to advocate for themselves. It doesnāt always work that way! This birth challenged me. I used everything in my bag of tricks and was reaching out to with questions and if Iām being honest, I second guessed myself a lot. But there came a point when it was time for mom to push and I figured out who I was, what type of support I am for women/birthing people!
Yāall I am the hype person! And I ask all the questions when it comes to a hospital birth and I make sure that you know your rights and how to say NO. Iāve learned that Iām not the best person for someone to have as support if youāre looking for a soft doula. I am not it š
š»āāļø I am the one saying to you āhow do you plan on getting this baby out? You have 2 choices at the moment and only you can make that decision, but a choice has to be made and ASAP.ā Women and birthing people are strong! Sometimes we all need someone to get loud for us and at us to kick us into gear. We should never stop learning about who we are and evolving into a better version of ourselves. We arenāt meant to be for everyone and thatās okay.
I shall end this by saying, happy birthday little one š„³ it was an absolute honor watching you come into this world and getting the chance to see another woman enter into parenthood š
