Honored to be back at Arthrex Global Headquarters as part of the Team Physicians Controversies faculty.

It’s always a privilege to collaborate with and learn from some of the best in the field. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to share insights on evolving foot and ankle procedures and the innovative techniques we’re continuing to bring back to our patients.

One of the most common things I hear from patients after bunion surgery is,

I perform minimally invasive bunion surgery every week. Using Arthrex MIS, we correct the deformity through tiny incisions instead of traditional open surgery. Patients typically walk sooner, heal faster, and get back to life quicker.

I’m often asked to recommend a great hand specialist, so I’m excited to share that we’ve just hired a new one.

Excited to welcome Dr. Amesur to Desert Orthopaedic Center as our new hand and elbow specialist. I highly recommend him, and yes, I had a hand in training and hiring him. No pun intended. As Program Director of Orthopedics at Valley Hospital Medical Center, I’ve had the privilege of helping train outstanding surgeons like Dr. Amesur, and we’re thrilled to have him join our team.

Proud to share our new study on improving recovery after ankle fracture surgery using a fibular nail.

We found that rehab plans vary widely between surgeons, which can make recovery confusing for patients. Our goal was to create a clearer, more consistent roadmap for when to walk, move, and begin therapy.

BBC Scotland will be broadcasting a one hour version of the original film on Monday 1 September at 21:00.

The documentary follows Ethan Walker, a promising teenage footballer from Aberdeenshire who suffered life-threatening injuries in a road traffic accident just months into a football scholarship at a US university.

Aided in his recovery by pioneering Scottish surgeon (and former footballer) Professor Gordon Mackay, Ethan undertakes a charity cycle ride from Glasgow to Munich for Scotland’s opening match against Germany in Euro 2024, just nine months after his accident. Entrusted by the Scottish national team to carry the match pennant on his back for the whole journey and deliver it in time for kick-off, Ethan is accompanied by Gordon, Tartan Army foot-soldier Stephen Collie and film-maker Martyn Robertson.
