Certain gums that contain fillers or artificial sweeteners, are going to be harmful to your gut microbiome. Additionally, some people might have sensitivities to sugar alcohols which can cause distention or bloating.

However, it has also been studied that when you’re chewing gum it can stimulate the vagus nerve and increase motility.

Always check the ingredients and pay attention to how your body responds to chewing gum.

Your gut could be struggling even though you aren’t having any gut type symptoms. If you’re experiencing headaches, eczema, acne, or thyroid issues, you may need to dive deeper and look at your gut.

There’s two reason why you might not be feeling well while taking your thyroid medication:

1. Synthetic thyroid medications contain fillers such has artificial colors, dyes, corn or lactose type products, etc. A lot of people have sensitivities to these causing stomach or immune system type issues. If you’re having any of these issues, talk to your doctor and get on a cleaner medication.

2. You need to be tracking the progression of T3 because if your T4 medication isn’t converting to T3, which is your active hormone, you’re not going to feel any better.
