Not all wound-care credentials are recognized, and many clinicians don’t find out until it’s too late. Before you renew or recertify, make sure your credential actually counts.

If you discover yours isn’t recognized, don’t worry, you can earn a nationally recognized AWM credential with guidance that’s clear, credible, and built for real clinical practice.

Chronic wounds aren’t just a clinical issue, they’re a massive financial burden. In the U.S. alone, we’re spending more than $50 billion every year on wound care. This is exactly why I focus so much on evidence-based education. When clinicians have the right training, patients heal faster and systems save money.

I read this piece on why nurse leaders should invest in wound‐care training, and it couldn’t be more timely. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services changes, rising costs of chronic wounds, and pressure on outcomes mean that wound care education isn’t optional anymore.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲:
• The data: pressure injuries still affect millions and cost institutions tens of thousands per case.
• The role of leadership: When nurse leaders champion training, it elevates everyone on the unit.
• The barriers: time, money, and confidence still hold nurses back.

If you’re a leader or clinician thinking about your next step, make sure your wound-care courses aren’t just “nice”, make sure they count. 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩.
