🚨 Largest Wound-Care Fraud in History — $1.2 B Scheme Targets Hospice Patients 💰 They paid kickbacks to reps and clinics to push skin-sub grafts — even on hospice patients.

🧾Reps got “commissions.” Prescribers were pressured to place grafts. Clinicians “signed off.” ⚖️ DOJ called it fraud.

⛓ 20 years in prison. 💸 $600 million in restitution.

🛡 Compliance isn’t optional. It’s survival. US Prescribers/Rep Compliance Course for 2026 releases 11/1/2025

An Arizona couple pleaded guilty for causing over $1.2 billion of false and fraudulent claims to be submitted to Medicare and other health insurance programs for expensive, medically unnecessary wound grafts that were applied to elderly and terminally ill patients.

The rise of “home-based wound care” shouldn’t feel like the Wild West — but right now, it does. Without clear standards and oversight, this promising shift risks inconsistency, compliance failures, and patient harm.

Done right, caring at home can transform outcomes. Done wrong, it sets patients and providers up for failure. To protect both, we need unified training, accountability, and transparency at every step.

Healing isn’t a trend. It’s a responsibility. Let’s build the system that matches the heart behind it.

You can stack your name with credentials, use the most advanced products, and leverage the latest tech—but if your patients don’t trust you, none of it matters.

In wound care, trust comes first. It’s earned in how you show up, how you listen, and how you put outcomes above all else.

Care first. Knowledge second. That’s how we heal wounds—and the system.

Change in wound care doesn’t happen in isolation, it’s built in rooms like this, where leaders gather to share ideas, challenge standards, and raise the bar for patient outcomes. Every conversation brings us closer to a future where best practice is the norm, not the exception.

CMS is increasing oversight of wound care billing and provider qualifications, making credible, accredited credentials essential. Vendor-tied or brief online certificates fail legal and audit standards, putting clinicians and facilities at risk.

The solution-CME-backed, independently assessed credentials that include proctored exams, renewal requirements, and third-party validation—key for legal defensibility and audit readiness.

Providers, facilities and groups are now performing credential audits identify gaps and transition to CME-backed programs. Doing so protects patients, reduces regulatory risk, and strengthens institutional credibility.
