🎰 Lucky #7 birthday for my oldest (and 7 years postpartum for me).

Here are 7 “lucky” things that have happened for us over the years.

He was born 5 days after his estimated due date and I wasn’t pressured into an induction (even though it was my first birth and I arrived at the hospital 1 cm dilated).

I tried every other position than lithotomy (on my back) during birth and I just ended up birthing him with minimal tearing in that position.

My water broke at Buffalo Wild Wings so we always have a funny story.

When he was a toddler, the pandem!c happened and my husband was furloughed at stayed home with him for months. (It built their strong bond).

When we moved to Vegas we only had to crash at our friends house for 3 months before getting into our first home (and celebrating Christmas there).

It’s taken us years and we are still building but we’ve built a strong village here (from daycare, school and sports communities).

I get to be his mom.

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

thought I would be hiding veggies and protein in my kids food...and I am.
But also in my own.
A little background; as an active kid and young adult I would also workout and still eat what I wanted.
I didn’t have restriction examples in my house so I felt confident with hunger cues etc as I grew up.
In graduate school I was so focused on getting through my doctorate and dating my (now husband) long distance | just ate what I wanted.
Then I had my first kid and.. still was able to exercise, breastfeed and make *small* adjustments inconsistently and be confident in my body.
I had my 2*d kid and for the first year or so it was the same. Then I went into year 3 of my private practice, growing pains of scaling and collaboration caused more stress inflammation than I realized at the time and was/ years into my marriage.
Enough said.
So at the end of last year I decided to sign up with a personal trainer.
I chose her because of experience with women in my season of life.
I chose her because I could use my equipment at home/ around my schedule.
I was honest about dietary changes/choices being the biggest hurdle and mind shift. And she didn’t guilt me, gaslight me or invalidate my experience.
And while I’m still working on motivation and making it a habit, I am so glad I made some major shifts. so as we arrive at the end of January, when our motivation is likely gone for new years resolutions or we are intimidated by the true change required to reach our goals.
Just remember this: two things can be true.
You’re clearing space for old habits *and* making rooms for new ones.

I thought I would be hiding veggies and protein in my kids food…and I am paying attention to that.

But I’m also paying attention to my own choices.

As moms we are the first to protect our kids. And sometimes that feels like change happens at a glacial pace. So just keep celebrating the tiny wins, mama.

This applies to a lot honestly 😏

The first step can be a DM to ask a question, coming to an in person event/workshop or booking your virtual eval.

Remember it’s just the first step, not the whole staircase.

Cheers to you,
