Summary of the Position:
Collect and/or prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
The phlebotomist must draw a suitable amount of blood samples and/or collect additional specimens while maintaining a safe, trusting, and confident environment in the patient's home or workplace.
Responsibilities of the position:
The following are examples of responsibilities, but they are not exhaustive:
Greet customers courteously, show valid identification, and adhere to all relevant Standard Operating Procedures regulating admission into patients' homes or places of employment, as well as all required personal protective equipment.
Successfully performing and finishing blood draws, collecting various specimens, appropriately labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens in a timely manner, recording maintenance data and decontamination, and documenting and updating patient information, as needed.
Setting up a collection area. Specimens are collected in accordance with defined protocols and procedures. Explaining the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (ex. urine or f***s) to each patient in a straightforward and courteous manner as needed. Providing a quiet environment for patients before, during, and after the collection process to reduce patient anxiety.
Using proper collection methodology, such as straight needles and/or butterfly needles, to successfully implement techniques.
Fully comprehending and carrying out all of the orders of the healthcare providers.
Patient identities on lab requisition forms are matched to specimen collection tubes. As necessary by each test order, labeling, centrifuging, dividing, and freezing specimens.
To ensure 100 percent accuracy, cross-check any test requisitions or computer labels against the order.
Transporting specimens to appropriate drop-off locations in a timely and safe manner.
Following company policies and procedures when using mobile apps and software.
Regulations and training requirements:
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) standards and regulations must all be understood and followed.
All required onboarding, monthly or as allocated, and annual organizational trainings are completed on time.
Education:
GED or High School Diploma
Valid Laboratory Assistant license for the NV state in which you will work is required.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of six months of relevant professional experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment is required.
Superior customer service abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to exhibit empathy and respect for the privacy and autonomy of patients are all desirable qualities.
Excellent patient engagement abilities in person, over the phone, and via email or text.
Ability to work independently and pay close attention to details.
Reliable, clean, and adequately insured personal car with enough room for a mobile centrifuge and another adult passenger.
Work schedule must be flexible.
