Season for Healing Therapy

Season for Healing Therapy Season for Healing Therapy is a private practice owned by Diamond Rodgers, LMFT Let’s face it, we all need help sometimes. That’s the beauty of it.

I believe everyone deserves to be happy in life, but the journey to happiness can be a long and hard road. It’s my passion to aid in the navigation for those who find themselves lost and stuck. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families to assist in processing and exploring: depression, anxiety, creating boundaries, family conflict, and relational concerns. I specialize in cultural issues, women's issues, and working with clients from underrepresented backgrounds. I love to incorporate mindfulness, meditation, and art therapy techniques into my therapeutic approach. I provide my clients with a direct yet gentle approach. I invest in each client to create an environment of safety and comfort, tailoring my approach to individual needs. Everyone’s journey will look different. There’s more than one path to get you to where you want to be.

Boundaries are meant for everyone in your life. There’s not a soul who should be exempt from receiving them. Don’t allow someone to manipulate you into thinking otherwise.

One way to love yourself is by sticking to your boundaries.
By sticking to your boundaries, not only are you loving yourself, but you’re also respecting yourself.

You have to love yourself and find that place in you that recognizes you deserve to have your boundaries respected.
The thing in vou that tells vou that vou deserve respect and love the way YOU want to be respected and loved.

What are some boundaries that help you love yourself?

A common topic I discuss is how to take up space at work. Taking up space is never an easy task. Here are a few pointers on how.

🟣 To be your unapologetic self you need to know who you are. Knowing yourself makes it harder for them to transform you into something you are not.

⚪️ Don’t be afraid to be assertive. You still need to speak up even if they don’t like what you have to say.

🟢 Instead of assimilating to the dominant culture, highlight and normalize cultural differences. Take pride in your cultural identity.

⚪️ Create a plan for how to manage common
microaggressions you face. Even practice implementing the plan to build comfort around it.

🟣 Always have an escape plan. Don’t jeopardize your safety or put yourself in vulnerable positions you can’t afford.

I can’t stress the last point enough. Taking up space, unfortunately, is a privilege. There are high consequences that come with going against the dominant culture. If you’re not in a position to risk being fired you’re limited on the space you can take up.

Internalized racism is the acceptance and internalization of racist beliefs, stereotypes, and attitudes by individuals from marginalized racial/ethnic groups, often directed towards their own group or themselves. It manifests as self-hatred, low self-esteem, and the belief in inherent inferiority due to one’s race or ethnicity. Addressing internalized racism requires awareness, education, and dismantling of oppressive systems to promote self-love, empowerment, and collective solidarity among marginalized groups. Therapy is a great place to start with addressing the core issues behind internalized self hate.

For black people, rest is an act of rebellion. Minorities historically have been told they’re lazy and depicted as such.
Combine this with a culture that has an unhealthy obsession with being busy, and rest can feel so shameful. Constantly being productive is a narrative we need to change. Despite how we’re portrayed, we know the hard work we put in daily.

The hard work required to break generational curses, becoming first-generation college students, and owning homes/property/businesses. We’re aware of our ancestors’ hard work they never received credit for. We deserve the self-care of resting. We deserve the rest our ancestors never received.

So be rebels and rest queens and kings.

Words of a wise man. The oppressor often blames the oppressed versus taking accountability. Gas lighting at its finest. There’s never a right way to protest or fight for freedom. There’s never a right way for us to live. We’re somehow always the problem 🤔🙄
