...It's time to turn a page into a new chapter
It is with deep sadness and immense gratitude that I write this.
I have been offered a job in Phoenix that I simply can not refuse. It is the culmination of the entire body of my work, put together and presented to me with a beautiful bow. The way the universe has opened each door and rolled out the red carpet at each turn to make this possible is truly undeniable.
The most challenging part is leaving my family and my chosen family/community here. You are so special to me! It has been so wonderful meeting and teaching so many new students to me, yogis who have been with me for years and deepening friendships along the way.
The final class with me at the studio will be Tuesday morning at 8:30am (Move) please go to the schedule and sign in, if you are interested in coming. I'd love to see you before I go.
Luckily, Dorothea will be assuming the room starting November 1st with her own TRE classes and schedule. If you haven't met her yet, Dorothea Deley is a certified Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) provider. She’s been teaching at TYR for a year now, and will continue TRE® classes in my studio thru December. I encourage you to try her class! Her students say they feel calmer, relaxed, even more joyful afterward.
Dorothea is offering one free TRE® class to my yoga students.

Again, thank you from the deepest place in my heart for all of your support, connection and allowing me to guide you in practice.

The Yoga Room is 1!!!

I'm excited to announce, that TODAY is our birthday!
Because of you, we have a room to practice in, and continue to connect with each other! (and if I am being fully transparent, this is the longest any of my solo ventures have gone on for... so that's something😉)

I'm grateful to be able to never "work" a single day..it's pure joy to do what I love and being able to do it with/for you is the best!!

I didn't ask permission, but I would like to recognize some of the people who have spent the most amount of time with me over the last year...

•Cath G with 267 classes attended
•Shannon F with 107 classes attended
•Laura B and Debbie B tied at 69 classes attended
•Cindy W with 53 attended

Thank you (all) from the bottom of my heart

Do you search for others to fill you?
…Give to you what you are lacking? Heal what aches? Is there a subtle or substantial discomfort that lies within?
This discomfort and those desires are just signs that you have separated yourself from your own heart as you are never really in need of anything.

You are limitless.

When you remember this and give love to yourself, what was once seemingly empty begins to fill and what once felt desperate now feels hopeful.
The source for unending nourishment is always inside of you.

I can remember the first time I experienced this to be true and it was while I was on my yoga mat. If you are anything like I was at the time, the mat was the only place I actually dedicated to myself, for myself.
I realized it was the only place I spoke kindly to myself and then eventually I took a deeper look inward to recognize it was me that I was missing all along.
The journey isn't always “easy” but it is most definitely worth it!

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that the ‘perfect pose’ is exactly where we are today with our bodies, not in the images posted up on social media (including mine.)
Each day the body is different. Let your breath reveal to you what is possible in your practice today…and everyday

Trikonasana
Step your feet 3 to 4 feet apart. Raise your arms parallel to the floor and reach them actively to the sides, shoulder blades wide, palms down.
Turn your left foot out to face the left. and your right foot in 45 degrees-ish. Firm your thighs and rotate your left (front) thigh outward, so you are creating/maintaining external rotation.
Inhale and extend your torso to the left, from your hip joint, not the waist. Reach out directly over the left leg. Counter the reach by anchoring your right hip slightly inward. Ground this movement by strengthening the right leg and pressing the outer heel firmly to the floor.
When you have reached as far as you are able, hinge at the hip and bring the torso to the left, moving toward your upper body being parallel to the floor. Reach your left hand down toward the floor and stretch your right arm toward the ceiling, in line with the tops of your shoulders. Your hands, arms and shoulders will form a straight line.
Open your torso to the right, keeping the left and right sides of the torso equally long. As the right hip comes slightly forward, lengthen the tailbone toward the back heel.
Rest your left hand on your shin, on a block or the floor outside your left foot whatever is possible without restricting breath flow. Keep your head in a neutral position or turn to look up at your hand or down at the ground.
Inhale to come up, strongly pressing the back heel into the floor and reaching the top arm toward the ceiling. Recenter, then repeat for the same length of time on the other side.

Trikonasana teaches foundation, stability, balance and expansion. It brings blood flow to all the organs of the of the body, aids good digestion and relieves stress, anxiety and tension. It strengthens the thighs, knees, ankles and glutes; and lengthens hips, groins, hamstrings, calves, shoulders, chest and spine.

“I think Jaimee is such a great mentor for a few reasons. First, she is passionate. You can tell she not only knows her stuff but truly enjoys sharing her knowledge with others, Secondly, her style is graceful, insightful and real, She not only is able to deliver information and guide in a way that is understood but in a way that makes you feel connected to her and her words. Lastly, Jaimee not only teaches but lives and breathes the mindset of life. Unlike many out there, she practices what she preaches, sharing not only her vast knowledge of the human body, yoga and philosophy, but also what she has leamed from her own experiences, I am lucky to know Jaimee.” - SG

Do you think that what your mind manifests, so does your body? For centuries and beyond, wellness experts have been arguing in the favor of an ethereal connection that binds our mental state with our physical reality.
People who have good emotional health are aware of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They have learned healthy ways to manage the stress and problems that are a normal part of life. They feel good about themselves and have healthy relationships.
However, many things that happen in your life can disrupt your emotional health. These can lead to strong feelings of sadness, stress, or anxiety. Even good or wanted changes can be as stressful as unwanted changes. Your body responds to the way you think, feel, and act. This is one type of “mind/body connection.” When you are stressed, anxious, or upset, your body reacts in a way that might tell you that something isn’t right. For example, you might develop high blood pressure or a stomach ulcer after a particularly stressful event
Your body is always speaking to you.
The art of stopping to listen to it can not only provide the environment for healing physical conditions but mental and emotional as well. Have you suffered from a disease and wondered what its presence could possibly signify in your life? Have you considered the emotional causes of disease? Knowledge is power and knowing what is afflicting us is the first step towards finding a solution.
Here are some other helpful tips.
Relaxation methods, such as meditation, listening to guided imagery tracks, yoga, and movement are useful ways to bring your emotions into balance.
Make time for things you enjoy.
Social support. If feelings of stress, sadness, or anxiety are causing physical problems, keeping these feelings inside can make you feel worse. It’s okay to let your loved ones or friends know when something is bothering you. However, keep in mind that your family and friends may not always be able to help you deal with your feelings appropriately.
Take care of yourself and get enough sleep.

CLASS SPOTLIGHT - CHILL

Yin + Restorative
Take an hour to diffuse and neutralize the nervous system.
This class compliments an extremely busy life and/or active yoga/movement practice. A place to seek and achieve balance from the chaos that surrounds us.

Natarajasana (Dancer Pose) can be a deep backbend that requires patience, focus, and persistence. The pose is named after the Hindu god Shiva Nataraja, King of the Dance, who finds bliss in the midst of destruction. Like its namesake, Lord of the Dance Pose embodies finding steadying calm within.

Prepare your shoulders, chest, hips, and inner thighs in the same manner in which they will be challenged in this pose.

You can use a strap to achieve greater access and to keep your hips squared toward the front of the mat and your lifted knee in life with your hip rather than splayed out to the side.

Pro Tip- Practice Dancer Pose near the end of the standing portion of your practice to ensure that you have spent plenty of time opening your heart, hips, and legs for optimal mobility and balance. Also, this helps avoid injury.

I love this pose because it’s a balance of effort and ease that requires all of your attention. Some days I fall out of the pose, others I’m steady and strong. It’s a good reminder that as it is in yoga, it is in life. Every day is a new chance to find balance. 😉

Did you try it? Let me know how it went!

Change affects us all and
we each deal with change differently.

How is it that when life is spun around by circumstances, benign or otherwise, some people flail while others sail? Why do some of us wallow in that place where we're so shocked and unhappy about an unexpected turn of events that we resist reality and find ourselves mired in bitterness or fear or hopelessness? Instead of accepting change with grace, we dig in our heels and suffer through each day of things not being what we think they should be. What's the secret to riding each new wave gracefully?
You can learn to accept change with equanimity, absorbing each phase in stride and learning from each new experience. Instead of running for the hills each time a change arises, deal with change in three distinct stages: Loosen your grip, separate your feelings, and tap into wisdom. Learning to make peace with life's calamities—lost jobs, romances, dreams—does not mean you have to be passive.
Prepare for life's ups and downs with a daily practice. Every morning, repeat a mindfulness verse: "Great is the matter of birth and death; impermanence surrounds us. Be awake each moment; do not waste your life."
Life doesn't give you breathing room, but if you stop grasping for control of the uncontrollable, you can learn to breathe through it all
In each and every class I teach, we use the mat as a training ground to implement connecting breath to imposing challenge (postures or movements) and when you find yourself able to move thru the challenging postures with out struggle and force, but instead connected to deep, controlled breath, you'll notice your efforts also exist off the mat with life's circumstances.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.
