As we continue to observe National Volunteer Month, we’re honored to celebrate volunteers like Lori Ernsperger!
After experiencing end-of-life care with her own mother, Lori was inspired to give back by volunteering at Nathan Adelson Hospice over the past several years. She shared with us—"While there are many reasons why I find volunteering at NAH to be rewarding, the uppermost reason is the staff. I have been fortunate to work with dedicated nurses that support me and make my time at NAH to be incredibly rewarding."
"The patients and families I have met have affected me in such a positive way. Recently, I met a sweet 91-year-old woman from Tennessee. She asked for a vanilla milkshake, which I got from the kitchen and sat with her to help her drink it. After discussing our diverse backgrounds, we ended up having so much in common. We attended the same university, 30 years apart, and met our husbands during college. While the conversation and milkshake were brief, the impact was very meaningful."
Through small acts of kindness, Lori helps ensure no one’s journey ends alone, afraid or in pain. Thank you, Lori, for the compassion and comfort you bring to our patients and families every day!
