In 2025, the weight loss pharmaceutical companies such as Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly will have spent roughly 15 BILLION dollars in marketing and promotional efforts! This includes TV, social media platforms, print, and physician education. The narrative wants us to believe that everyone can now lose weight easily, and be healthier and happier. It’s the same old narrative from diet culture as always, but louder than ever! It’s fueling weight stigma! But, the truth is coming out every day. These medications carry a lot of risks and we still do not have long term data on health status over time when people are on higher doses for weight loss. We know 1/2 of people who start will stop by one year. And there are dozens of side effects from mild to life threatening. The bottom line: Starting these weight loss medications can start and/or exacerbate a life threatening eating disorder. Please, help us help people be safe to recover in their bodies without pressure to shrink their bodies! We can ALL work together to end weight stigma! 🫶

Ditching Diet Culture and Weight Stigma can help us to nourish our bodies more mindfully and consistently, build body trust, and lose that stressful sense of feeling “out of control.”

Ironically, most people struggling with binge eating or loss of control eating aren’t fueling adequately throughout the day and/or are have restrictions on certain foods or food groups (behavioral and/or psychological) due to diet culture.
