This is an open and welcoming space to connect with others living with a heart condition and is open to heart patients and their families, caregivers and health care professionals.

If you weren’t able to speak for yourself, would others know your personal wishes for your health care? Today is National Health Care Decisions Day and a reminder to think about your personal wishes for your health care, plan ahead, document those wishes and let loved ones know your preferences. Personal Decision booklets are available at our hospital through our Patient Registration department or there are other documents you may use.

Most importantly, make sure others know your preferences, give copies to family, friends, your physician and especially the Nevada Living Will Lockbox, where residents can file advance directives, living wills, powers of attorney and DNR orders for authorized healthcare providers and family members. It is maintained by the Nevada Secretary of State’s office. Be sure to update as needed!

All ages had a great time at Saturday's Touch-a-Truck event to benefit Family 2 Family Connection. Our teddy driver was especially popular, along with games and prizes, at our ER at South Summerlin Station. From construction equipment to first responder vehicles and even an aquarium transporter, there was plenty of hands-on fun and learning taking place at Downtown Summerlin. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

Our team had a great time introducing 14 high school students from a local magnet school with a medical program to a variety of careers through the annual Operation Health Care Bound program hosted by the Area Health Education Center! Students enjoyed presentations and hands-on activities from Administration, Volunteers, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Respiratory, Child Life, Pharmacy, our med-surg nursing unit 4 West, ER and Infection Prevention. They also had different departments, including Dietary, Radiology and Lab, and met with area EMTs. We hope they enjoyed the day as much as we did!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for some Spring Fun last Saturday - from photos with the Easter bunny and pup cups to ER and ambulance tours, blood pressure checks and learning more about the new South Summerlin Primary Care office located in the ER at South Summerlin building, a great time was had by all!

As Summerlin and the surrounding communities to grow, so does Summerlin Hospital. The 485-bed hospital recently opened a new patient care dedicated to adult oncology care, expanded its pediatric unit to the sixth floor and renovated its Level II neonatal intensive care and maternal triage units. It is continuing to expand its BirthPlace to meet the growing demand for maternity services. Hospital social media accounts are managed by the hospital marketing team.
