The Birthplace at Summerlin Hospital is delighted to announce the introduction of wireless fetal monitors, a game-changing development that empowers our mothers-to-be to have a more comfortable and mobile labor experience.

With the implementation of wireless fetal monitoring, our patients can now enjoy greater freedom of movement, allowing them to walk, change positions, or even utilize birthing tools without being restricted by cords or cables.

The benefits of mobility during labor are well documented. Being able to move can help ease discomfort, promote relaxation, and may even contribute to a shorter labor. With these wireless monitors, our nurses and doctors can continuously track the baby’s heart rate and the mother’s contractions without interrupting the mother’s ability to stay active and engaged in the labor process.

At Summerlin Hospital, we are committed to providing the highest level of care and support for our patients. We believe that this innovation will enhance the birthing experience and contribute to more positive outcomes for both mothers and their newborns. We look forward to continuing to serve our community and support our families with the latest advancements in maternity care. If you or someone you know is expecting, we invite you to learn more about our services and the warm, welcoming environment at The Birthplace.

As you prep for Thanksgiving, keep these helpful healthy and safety tips in mind, courtesy of Dr. Neil Bhavsar!

One of the most common reasons people visit the emergency room on Thanksgiving is abdominal pain, often triggered by overeating, alcohol use, or foodborne illness. Doctors report frequent cases of gastroenteritis, gallbladder attacks, and acute pancreatitis — which can range from mild discomfort to life-threatening inflammation, especially after high-fat holiday meals.

Chest pain is another major reason for ED visits, as heavy salt intake, alcohol, and stress can worsen heart failure or trigger “holiday heart syndrome.”

Respiratory illnesses like flu and viral infections also spike due to large indoor gatherings, and injuries from cooking, carving, or falls round out the top holiday-related ER complaints.

We hope you stay safe and healthy during this holiday season! Both the ER at South Summerlin (10290 W. Flamingo, west of Hualapai) and Summerlin Hospital emergency departments are open 24/7/365.
