“I hired Jillian as my doula and had an absolutely amazing experience. As a first time mom, I was really scared about the process and wanted to have an Unmedicated hospital birth. After meeting with Jillian I knew she was the right person to guide me through my labor and delivery. As someone with a type A personality, I did so much research on labor and delivery but still felt I needed someone who knew the process at a professional level.
Jillian was really good about listening to my wants and needs but also adjusting our birth plan as my labor progressed. I texted her all through the night while laboring at home and she was always available for me. I truly feel that the energy Jillian brought to the delivery room helped me stay calm, knowing I had an advocate who was knowledgeable about the process. If you are considering hiring a Doula for your hospital or home birth, I highly recommend Jillian!”

“There are no words to describe how much Jillian helped us through our labor & delivery. I wasn’t someone who thought they’d ever have a doula but Jillian was a pleasant surprise. She is the perfect balance between professional and personal. Even though we didn’t decide to have a doula until 2months before my due date, Jillian still made us feel like we were important and it felt like we had been with her the entire pregnancy. We never felt like we out of place as people who were late to knowing the benefits of having a doula instead Jillian made sure to answer all of our questions and always leave room for discussion if we wanted it.

During my labor Jillian took into account everything we had talked about prior when it came to my likes and dislikes. For us Jillian was a barrier between us as the couple and the medical staff. It felt so nice to have someone as an in between so we could enjoy this huge intimate experience. When my labor came to a stop and I was told I needed to move to a C-Section, Jillian stayed at the hospital until we came out to recovery and I was alert. Jillian became a support system not only for myself but for my husband. After leaving the hospital and going home, Jillian stopped by a few days later and we were able to discuss my birth story. This was extremely helpful as some the events I wanted to process and just talk about my experience.
She played a huge role in our birth experience and story. We can’t thank Jillian enough for helping us being our baby boy into the world!”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing Mothers I had the privilege of supporting this year, in previous years, & soon to be years. What an amazing day to celebrate the joy of motherhood and the incredible humans we were given to raise. Extra thankful for the little girl who made me a mother ❤️ Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Not all placentas are perfectly round! Recently received this placenta to encapsulate and my client asked for a print. Upon first examination I noticed this placenta had what’s called a succenturiate lobe. A succenturiate placenta is a condition in which one or more accessory lobes develop in the membranes apart from the main placental body and is still connected by membrane and blood vessels. Some placentas can even have more than one succenturiate lobe.

Thinking back on some amazing clients this year! This sweet gem in particular hired me before she was even out of her first trimester. We had an entire pregnancy to be in consistent communication! I loved being apart of her journey from the little things to the big! Luckily for her she had a super quick 1st labor and she did amazing!!

“I really loved having Jillian as my doula! From our first meeting it was very clear to me that she just had the right energy to counteract my anxiety. She was so present throughout the pregnancy, just talking to her in our meetings made me feel at ease as a FTM. The birth went really fast so she didn't make it, but even knowing that I would hire her again for the plethora of knowledge she has. She helped me find a lactation consultant post-partum and even brought me some lactation cookies in our debrief from the birth. Couldn't recommend her enough!”

“Your baby’s birth story is amazing & unique because it is specifically yours.”

I couldn’t tell you all the many moments I felt awed and inspired by this momma’s strength. And the love that filled the space was something I’ll never forget. So thankful to have been apart of experience. No matter how many births I see, I am continuously humbled to bear witness to a family’s transition as they welcome a new member.

O X Y T O C I N ❤️
Our bodies & our brains can do amazing things! We’re born into the world with the power inside us to take on so much physically & mentally. A personal favorite hormone of mine is oxytocin. And the good news is- you have it too! It’s talked about a lot when the subject of labor & maternal/infant bonding comes up but it’s so much more than what you may think!

Oxytocin is well known as the attachment/love hormone. It is released in large amounts during labor to intensify contractions to open the cervix & allow baby to pass through the birth canal. After birth, the hormone continues to stimulate contractions to discourage excess bleeding after babe is born. It also is released when the ni***es are stimulated while baby latches on the breast to promote the letdown of milk! ..... but that’s just the beginning. Oxytocin helps us feel incredibly attached to our babies & even our romantic partners. In babies this bonding can occur & increase with every eye contact, lullaby, bath session, feeding, snuggle, etc! The more you love on your baby- obviously the more you’ll feel connected- and that’s thanks to our amazing brain chemicals!

It is also released when we start to feel a romantic attraction to someone. Because when that attraction first occurs, your brain releases dopamine, your serotonin levels increase, & oxytocin is produced. This will cause a surge of positive emotions. Oxytocin is also what helps s***m move & it’s released onto your cervix during s*x- so not only does it aid in making babies but you’ll also feel a strong connection to your partner as well.

There is certainly no over exaggerating when we say oxytocin makes it’s way full circle!
You love your partner- you make a baby- you birth your baby- you love your baby- you feed your baby! How amazing is that!
Oxytocin can be released when we look at others with love so it definitely is not lacked even in the case of adoption, blended families, bottle feeding, family bonding, etc!
