Today is and we having been highlighting some of our outstanding residents throughout the week who are part of our Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium, based at MountainView Hospital.
Today we are featuring Dr. William Libling, a Transitional Year resident.
Dr. Libling graduated with a Bachelor Science degree from the University of Arizona with dual majors in Biochemistry and Molecular/Cellular Biology. He completed his medical degree from Midwestern University in Arizona and went on to complete a Master of Biomedical Science in California.
Dr. Libling took some time out for us to talk about why he chose medicine and the Sunrise Health residency program.
Why medicine?:
I have always been interested in science and problem solving, medicine felt like the perfect way to combine those passions with the opportunity to help people directly. For me, medicine is a vast and dynamic field that allows exploration into cutting-edge treatment options for previously incurable conditions. But, most importantly I value the chance to build meaningful relationships with patients over time.
What are your professional goals?:
I am pursuing a career in neurology, with interests in stroke, oncology and autoimmune disease. My biggest goal is to deliver the best care to my patients by collaborating with each member of the healthcare team. Additionally, I aim to address unanswered questions in medicine through translational research, neuroimaging analysis, and clinical trials.
Why did you choose the Sunrise Health GME Program?:
I was drawn to this program because of its commitment to expanding top-notch healthcare to the growing Las Vegas population. Sunrise Health stood out to me because of its robust training in diverse clinical settings, the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative and supportive team, and the program’s commitment to resident education and wellbeing. The leadership, clinicians, and others supporting our residency training programs are talented and always aim to train exceptional physicians and leaders.
What do you do for fun outside of the hospital?
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and skiing in the mountains, golfing, traveling and reading non-fiction.
Thank you Dr. Libling!
