Building a business means embracing discomfort, not avoiding it.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the backend productive tasks on the business. They are no doubt important, but early on, keeping your attention there won’t drive revenue.

When you choose a path of entrepreneurship, putting yourself out there is a non-negotiable.

I see a lot of people get stuck at this phase. It’s scary, intimidating. It involves being courageous

And when it all clicks, it’s certainly worth it.

When I was practicing as a cash-based PT it became pretty obvious the mechanism to scale was through patient volume and hiring staff…

The problem for me… that wasn’t the kind of business I wanted to build.

I had left the traditional PT world to get away from volume, not chase it with a different business.

And if you know anything about me, you know I’m constantly searching for ways to make things more efficient…

So that’s what I did.

Instead of chasing volume, I got resourceful. I recognized my clients didn’t need more time with me, then needed management and guidance.

I blended my practice to include in-person when necessary and a remote offer when that was appropriate…

And my outcomes got better.

So if you’re a little disenchanted about the current state of PT, just know there’s paths out there that align with you.

Sometimes you just have to create them 🤘🏼

Remote offers in tandem with in-person sessions are being the norm for cash based physios and rehab chiros.

Your clients want to take their session beyond the clinic walls and I think in most cases you do too.

Helping them navigate their weekly training, being specific with their professions, tracking and monitoring return to sport volume… this can’t happen as effectively with 30-60 min sessions.

There’s plenty of physios and rehab chiros out there who are master clinicians, but suck at sales…

And when you step into the cash realm, relying on your clinical skillset alone is a real tough way to build your business.

So rather than shying away from sales, what if you just found a sales style that you actually meshed with.

I know for me, I used to hate sales, but mostly because I didn’t understand and I wasn’t aligned with high pressure and manipulative tactics like I often saw.

But when I leaned in and learned a style that I enjoyed, it just became conversational. It became like coaching.

This skill is the one that you can take with you wherever you go.

And our crew is constantly refining their skills in our community 🤘🏼

But it’s usually the only option they have…

The quicker you understand the payer model in traditional PT, the quicker you will understand why you cap out financially so quick

So you’re left with a choice

Go into management, switch settings, leave the field, or start something on your own

For many providers they want to maintain a clinical touch, but want the financial upside.

In my opinion that’s what the cash based realm provides.

Cut out the middle man, keep expenses low, and you can earn more money in less time

I’m biased, but slap a virtual offer in there and now you don’t event need to be in person to get paid for your outcomes.

And to the “it’s not about the money” crowd out there… well it’s also not about being a broke doctor, so you gotta do something.
