We're celebrating the arrival of our new Clinical Director at Freedom House. Everybody say hello to Stephanie Mapula-Magdaleno!

As a Certified Professional Counselor (CPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Stephanie provides compassionate, client-centered care tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals. She has a firm belief that every person has the capacity for growth and healing when met with empathy, respect, and a nonjudgmental space. Her approach focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore challenges at their own pace. She's dedicated to working collaboratively with each participant to foster insight, resilience, and meaningful, lasting change.

We're very fortunate to have Stephanie here and we look forward to great things from her and her team!

In our last post we mentioned that Saturday was a busy day for us and we weren't kidding. We also had the honor and privilege of pitching in on a special event servicing over 200 people who are currently unhoused. This was a joint event with Just One Project and Punx 4 Change. Clothes, supplies, and some of the tastiest street tacos were given out.

We had a busy day on Saturday serving our community with a multitude of our partners!!! Siegel Cares put on an outstanding community resource fair at their headquarters located just a block away from Freedom House. Check the pics, they're great. Everyone in attendance had a blast. It was a party!!! Thanks Susie and the whole gang over at Siegel Cares. We also want to thank all the other volunteers and organizations who were there being of service.

We had the opportunity to drop in on our friends at Smith's. They donated to the Kevin Buckley Scholarship Fund and provided hygiene supplies to us. Thanks to them, there's some clean teeth in the city today!!!!

Freedom House loves Susie Martinez and Siegel Suites - both of whom are great community partners! Susie is always making in-kind donations to our program on behalf of Siegel Suites and today, we took some time to present her with a plaque of appreciation. It's partners like these that keep the heart of two great community pillars beating!

We took some time to thank Chino, the owner of Chino's Mexican Kitchen. He made Thanksgiving very special for our entire inpatient group by donating the most delicious food. Chino, we can't thank you enough for everything you do for our community. While we were there, gotta tell ya, we had one of the best burgers Las Vegas has to offer. Get to Chino's, trust us on this! Outta this world!!!!

Last week Freedom House was honored to take part in the Point-In-Time count. We joined the City of North Las Vegas and had the privilege of assisting their Outreach Team as we counted and surveyed the unhoused in an effort to gather data which impacts budgets for programs and services city-wide. We extend our thanks to the numerous organizations and individuals who all deployed by 4am, donating their time to this worthy cause.

Freedom House was honored to join Pick It Up Las Vegas in their weekly cleanup service. All 15 of our volunteers worked together with this great organization in an effort to clean up this great town. We love our community! Oh and hey, BONUS, it made the news....thanks to Fox 5 for covering this great event!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! As we celebrated the holidays we had gratitude in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers now turn to the coming year and all those who need help. We enter 2026 with a commitment singular to those we serve and our community. Let's make this the best year yet!
