Message from the Chair: Access to Healthcare

Dear Friend,

We have become a nation of superior wealth in comparison to our brethren, but we have yet to gain superior wisdom or superior compassion. Our prosperity, fortunate as it may be, has not yet led to an end to hunger, homelessness, or illness. Even in this time of depression, among us there is enough wealth and resources to affect much chan

ge, to rid the world of hunger, homelessness and minister to all those who are ill. The change needs to start here, in our backyard, our community. Across the world is an economic depression, which is strongly affecting the U.S.A and our hometown, Las Vegas. Although there is this depression, we must never give let go of our dream, we still have the resources necessary to enable the American dream, the dream that we can cure cancer and Alzheimer's and rid our community of the hunger, homelessness and to minister to all those who are ill. I have sworn before God and you to provide access to healthcare to many Nevadans who are suffering. United, with an army of volunteers and with the generous financial support from the blessed people in our community this will be a reality. This is not a time to back off or slack off because of the economic crisis. On the contrary, this is a time to speed up our efforts to alleviate the suffering of our fellow human beings. To do otherwise will be fatal to many Nevadans. Should we over look the urgency of this moment we will continue to count at least one Nevadan a day who dies from lack of healthcare. Not to mention, so many children and other adults who continue to suffer from medical and mental illness who have been neglected. I have a dream that one day and that day is now we will all rise up and extend a helping hand to our neighbors in need. That we will provide much needed food, shelter and healthcare to our brothers and sisters in this community in crisis. I have a dream that VMSN will have a flagship in the down town area that will provide the much needed healthcare and much needed hope for many of our citizens. I have a dream that our children will be immunized, that those with hypertension will have much needed medications to prevent illness and stroke, that diabetics will not go into a needless coma, that our asthmatics will have the breathe of life. I have a dream that the current statistic of one out of ten teenagers attempting su***de will be reduced to none. I have a dream that just because someone in Nevada is without a job or without friends, without health insurance, without welfare that they will have a medical home at VMSN to minister to their medical, dental, and mental health care needs. I invite you all to share our dream, to join our exciting adventure and to make it a reality. I invite you to tour Paradise Clinic and see how this dream is coming true. We appreciate your help through volunteerism and donations. I invite you to go to our website, VMSN.org and sign up to volunteer or donate. Please visit us on our website at VMSN.org and sign up on our volunteer’s page or call us at 967-0530. Sincerely,

Florence Jameson and all our volunteers at VMSN

VMSN was founded on the belief that healthcare is a human right. We serve individuals who fall through the cracks of the healthcare system - uninsured Nevadans who are not eligible for Medicaid and cannot afford private insurance. Yohara is just one of the many patients we are blessed to provide care for in our community. πŸ’™βš•πŸ‘ͺ

Thank you to our partner American Heart Association for the SWAP Guide posters in support of our food pantry! Did you know that making small shifts in the foods you enjoy can have big nutritional payoffs? In partnership with the American Heart Association, our Social and Behavioral Health department has been educating our patients about the importance of healthy food choices. Keep up the fantastic work Lariza and Lilly! πŸπŸžπŸ‰πŸ’™

We are so excited to be a part of this landmark event! "Be The Light" Youth Conference is a collaborative effort powered by , , and β€” with the generous support of the City of Las Vegas, who has graciously donated the use of the Historic West Side School for this momentous occasion.

The conference is dedicated to pouring into our youth and setting them up for success in school, in leadership, and beyond. Through powerful workshops, inspiring speakers, and interactive experiences, we’re creating a safe, dynamic space for middle and high school students to discover their potential, build new skills, and celebrate their voices.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a significant day in American history that commemorates the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States on June 19, 1865.

Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the resilience, strength, and contributions of the Black community. It is also a call for continued reflection, education, and action toward equity, inclusion, and justice for all. Here are some things we can do today - support Black-owned businesses, read literature by Black authors, learn more about Juneteenth history, engage in conversations about racial equity, attend a Juneteenth celebration, and donate to related causes.

At VMSN, we celebrate the diversity of our team and the communities we serve. Let us take this day to reflect on our shared values, appreciate the progress made, and acknowledge the work still ahead.

Happy Juneteenth. Find fun local events here! http://bit.ly/3ZDPbsh
