Anxiety vs Intuition ⬇️

It can be confusing when you can’t tell the difference between anxiety and what you “really” want.

Intuition feels calm and steady, it’s a quiet inner knowing shaped by lived experience, emotional awareness, and subtle cues your body picks up. It’s grounded, present, and connected.

Anxiety feels loud and urgent, it’s a voice fueled by fear, intrusive thoughts, and “what if” spirals. It pulls you into worst-case scenarios and disconnects you from what’s actually happening.

Sharing information about OCD and anxiety terms to help you understand therapy and the treatment process.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based therapy often used alongside ERP for OCD. It teaches practical tools to navigate intense emotions and respond more effectively.

Validation vs Reassurance - what’s the difference?

Reassurance tells someone their fears won’t happen while validation acknowledges the feeling not the fear.

Reassurance can take away anxiety for a moment but validation helps someone face it with support. 💪

🧠 A big part of OCD work is learning: “My brain is sounding an alarm, but that doesn’t mean it’s telling the truth.”

OCD can make thoughts feel urgent, scary, or impossible to ignore, but these intrusive thoughts are just signals from a distressed brain, not facts.

What can OCD look like in the classroom? 📚

OCD often worsens under stress, and in high-pressure environments like school, intrusive thoughts and fears can take hold. These obsessions might center around:

Neatness and perfection
Doing everything perfectly or “just right”
Contamination and germs
Difficulty focusing
Constantly asking for reassurance

To cope, students may develop compulsions, repetitive physical or mental behaviors meant to relieve anxiety. But these can start interfering with learning, focus, and well-being.

Talking with a school counselor, teacher or OCD specialist can be the first step to getting the right support.
