Cassie Franco - Certified Professional Midwife

Cassie Franco - Certified Professional Midwife Midwife and doula offering human, evidence-based maternity care and education. Birth is powerful and it matters. I love dancing, horses, sunshine and my family.

I provide collaborative care grounded in shared decision-making for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, serving families in the Las Vegas area. Not only are you welcoming a wonderful little babe to the world, you are becoming a mother, a family. It is a time of learning, exploring, asking questions and facing fears. The births of my three children sparked a journey toward knowledge, empowerment and a calling to serve birthing families in our community. As a doula, I want to support you as you discover your hopes and needs for labor and birth. I have experience with home, hospital, natural, medicated and surgical birth, and I draw on these experiences as well as my ongoing studies to assist you in a warm, relevant way. I offer a calm presence, emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint. Some tools I use include affirmations, guided visualizations, gentle touch, counter pressure, position changes and aromatherapy. I have a particular interest in helping partners participate to their level of comfort. I look forward to working with you. Happy birthing.

Choosing a midwife or doula is a deeply personal decision.

Many people want care that feels collaborative, steady, and grounded in both evidence and respect for their autonomy — but aren’t always sure what that looks like in practice.

When we work together, my goal is to provide clear information, thoughtful guidance, and attentive support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Care works best when there is trust, open communication, and shared responsibility.

I’m currently accepting a small number of midwifery and doula clients.

Last week I taught The Postpartum Plan, and I’ve been sitting with so much gratitude for the families who came and shared space and conversation.

We talked about recovery, newborn rhythms, emotional adjustment, and what it actually looks like to move through early postpartum with more support and less pressure.

The depth of the questions and reflections reminded me how much thoughtful, evidence-based postpartum preparation is needed — and how rarely people are given it.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who attended and trusted me with this time together 🤍

More education offerings will be coming.

Postpartum doesn’t end at 12 weeks—it changes shape.

Many parents struggle later, quietly, when support has faded and expectations rise.

This doesn’t mean you did anything wrong.
It means postpartum care is allowed to last longer.

You’re not behind. You’re still becoming.

Skin-to-skin is often talked about as a bonding moment — but it’s also important postpartum care.

In the hours and days after birth, it supports regulation, recovery, and connection for both baby and parent.

And it doesn’t have to stop after the first hour.

Simple practices like this are part of how we support postpartum health — something we talk about often in The Postpartum Plan.

Postpartum care doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

This is the pace of a newborn.

Slow.
Intentional.
Regulated through connection.

When we slow our bodies, our expectations, and our schedules, babies feel it.
And when babies feel safe, parents can begin to exhale too.

Postpartum care isn’t about bouncing back.
It’s about slowing down enough to land.

I read a post the other day that said:

“The moment a baby cries, a mother’s body answers. Before thought. Before choice. Her brain sparks. Her chest tightens. Her arms move without asking. To soothe. To shield. To hold.”

And my first thought was wow. That’s powerful. That ache in your chest. That urgency that won’t let you sit still. It’s real. It’s biology. It’s motherhood.

But then I wondered what about adoptive moms. Foster moms. What about the moms who didn’t carry the child in their womb but love them just as fiercely.

Here’s the truth. Science says it isn’t only pregnancy that creates that pull. Our bodies respond through caregiving itself. When you love a baby, hold them, respond to their cries, and show up over and over again, your brain and hormones change too. There are studies on foster moms that show their brains light up and bonding hormones increase in response to their foster infants, just like biological moms. And it grows with time. With every hug. Every feeding. Every bedtime. You can read one of those studies at pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23163703.

So if you’ve ever doubted yourself. If you’ve ever thought I didn’t carry them so maybe I’m not really worthy of being called mom. That ache in your chest and that urgency you feel is real. You are responding the way a mother responds. Biology or not, love rewires the body. It builds you into them.

Motherhood isn’t just in the heart. It’s in the body. It’s in the brain. It’s in the sweat, the tears, the rocking, the chaos, and the quiet moments.

One of the most important postpartum skills is slowing down.

After birth, it’s common to try and move at the pace we lived before —pushing through exhaustion, expecting quick recovery, doing.

Postpartum asks for a different rhythm. Postpartum asks us to be. Be patient. Be curious. Be present.

Slowing down supports our healing —hormones, mental health, and integration.

This isn’t falling behind. It’s how healing happens. It’s what we need. It’s what our babies need. Slow down.
