Taking the time to prepare now is one of the most selfless acts we can offer our loved ones. It’s a moment of clarity in a world that often moves too fast— a decision made not out of fear, but out of deep care and intention.

When we think ahead, we offer those closest to us the gift of ease, comfort and reassurance during one of life’s most tender seasons.

We invite you to begin the conversation— and discover the calm that comes with being ready.

There’s something incredibly powerful about the sound of engines echoing in unity— each one a heartbeat of respect, honor, and love. Today, these riders didn’t just ride. They escorted a life with reverence, showing that farewell doesn’t have to be silent to be sacred. It was loud. It was proud. It was beautiful. Ride in peace, sir. 🕊️

Today we honor, Marielle Landry! Marielle began her career at Palm Mortuary in 2014 as a part-time Funeral Service Attendant. In a short time she realized the profound impact she could make, helping a grieving family. She obtained her Funeral Director License and helped open the Palm Southwest Location in 2015. Since then, she’s become a member of the Leadership Team at Palm Downtown, Affordable Cremation & Burial, Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, and now Palm Northwest Mortuary and Cemetery. Marielle takes great pride in caring for our grieving families and mentoring her team. When she’s not at Palm, she’s most likely spending time with her lovely wife, on a golf course, hiking to the base camp of Mount Everest (yes, that’s right, she has done that), or walking in a parade down Las Vegas Boulevard. We are so very fortunate to have her on the team!
Q. What’s a misconception about your industry?
A. That if you work in the funeral industry, you’re free from the pain of grief. Some seem to be under the impression that you become desensitized, when in all actuality, we share in that pain that is grief. Palm Northwest, has a Grief Share Group on the second Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 pm to 7pm. It’s not just families that attend, but employees too. It’s a place where we can take our badges off and sit in a healing circle with others who are also going through their own grief journey.
Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
A. Two pieces of advice comes to mind. You won’t know, if you don’t try. – My Dad ~ I was at a point in my personal life, where I was navigating a very painful and difficult time. A colleague of mine, asked me to run a marathon with her, which I had never done. When thinking if I could/should, I remembered my Dad’s words. I’m proud to say, I did it! I will never do it again, but I figured out, I could do it, I made it! The second piece of advice is “Choose your own weather”- past mentor and friend. We all have times that we face adversity or difficult things. We get to choose how we respond. We can respond in a positive and constructive way, or not. I prefer to choose sunshine.
Q. How do you cheer yourself up?
A. I really love getting outside when I need that boost. I need fresh air and sunshine. Sometimes that’s getting outdoors for a hike, going for a walk or run, or playing a round of golf. I find when I get outdoors and move my body, my mind begins to clear and the cheer shines through.

Karen Umbriaco Palm Mortuary Henderson Location Manager
Dedicated to serving Palm families for 15 years. Karen’s first 10 years were in the Denver market and then she transferred to Las Vegas, NV. “My grandma was the church organist and my grandfather was a Mortician. I grew up going to funerals. I would’ve never guess my time with my grandparents were intended to prepare me for a 15 year career in the Funeral Industry. I’m sure, I’ll retire in this industry. I was taught at an early age to treat every family, like they’re your own and follow your heart and do what’s right. Helping my extended families at Palm Mortuary is a honor that I’m very proud of. I appreciate being able to guide the families in difficult times earning their trust and showing them compassion.”
Q. How do you cheer yourself up?
A. That’s an easy question spending quality time with my family just hanging out, nothing special just being together. And squeezing my grandson who will be 4 years old this month and awaiting the new grandson in April. We got lots of love to give.
Q. What’s your biggest accomplishment?
A. My biggest accomplishments is raising (5) well-adjusted happy and healthy adults. And yes, it was a lot of work.
Q. Who would you like to thank?
A. I have several people to thank because it takes many on your journey, Harry Stevenson took me under his wing in the profession and taught me so much, Matt Whaley because he gave me a chance and always had faith in me and Celena DiLullo for being there for me every step of the way and giving me a chance to do more.
Q. What advice do you have for a teenage girls?
A. My advice to a teenage girl is: Be true to yourself!

Kacia Pretty is our woman of the day! Kacia is a Family Service Counselor at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery and King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery. She’s known for her generosity and caring intentions. She’s constantly helping those in need, whether it’s giving sound advice, fostering animals in need, or purchasing back to school clothing items for students in need. Kacia is a wonderful person who cares deeply for others. Kacia has been with Palm since 2012 and has contributed to many special projects, but one holds very close to her heart. The Holocaust Memorial Plaza, which was created based off of an idea Kacia had. The memorial, located at King David Memorial Chapel & Cemetery, is meant to honor those who died in the Holocaust. Crumbling brick walls reflect the deterioration of Jewish life as the N**i party started their persecution, plaques feature names and locations of Holocaust extermination camps, and a complete timeline of the Holocaust is engraved on a polished granite Jewish star emerging from the ground to symbolize Judaism rising up to survive.
Kacia adores her children, she loves to travel, and she’s always finding ways to make the world a better place.
Q. What’s the best piece of advice, you’ve ever been given?
A. Follow your heart, but take your brain with you.
Q. What’s a misconception about your job?
A. People not knowing how deep we have our hearts invested until they meet with us. My personal goal for every family I meet, is to take care of them in a way that leads them in a direction of peace. I always say, "It is my goal to have people leave feeling better than when they walked in. If I haven't accomplished that, I haven't done my job today."
Q. Who do you want to thank?
A. There’s so many people I need to thank in life. I would like to highlight two of them. The first I need to thank is, My Mother. When I was 5 years old, my Father passed away which left my Mother with two small children to raise. The way my Mother cared for me, I never experienced a time where I felt unimportant in her eyes, she filled me with unconditional love, love that I carry with me everywhere I go. Secondly, I need to thank, Jay Poster. Jay not only introduced the King David family to me, but welcomed me into it. He’s an excellent partner in caring that I align myself with. I have a great amount of respect for him.

Serving families for Palm Mortuary since 2021 initially as a Family Service Counselor. Currently since 2023 and with honor as a Pre-Planning Advisor Manager.
Q. Where did you grow up?
A. Durango, Mexico (north-central Mexico) which has beautiful waterfalls, hot springs and nature preservers. *As of 2023, approximately 30 major films have been filmed in Durango, such as westerns starring John Wayne (where he acquired a 1500-hectare ranch) also National Lampoon’s Vacation, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” etc. I lived there with my mother and father, 2 sisters & 1 brother (my mother’s immediate family lived there). I lived there until I was 7 years old. I was a good student because I loved to learn and always wanted to do my best. I loved going to school and enjoyed the outdoors. It was beautiful. We moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1996. We had family that already lived in Las Vegas, so we decided to join them.
I graduated from Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center ‘Votech’ (opened 1966, it was the first public educational institution of its kind launched by Clark County School District) which is now Southeast Career Technical Academy, Las Vegas, NV. I excelled there and had good experiences.

Q. What is the most misconception about your job/funeral industry?
A. In my 3 years, it’s sad to say and it’s the furthest thing from the truth, the general public/consumer thinks that they’re going to be taken advantage of. I am so humbled to be a part of Palm Mortuary because of Palms high ethical standards to serve our families and the community. We build endearing relationships and I find great joy in serving the families. It is rewarding when the families share their experiences and say, “You made it so much easier. And our family trust you and Palm Mortuary each and every time.” I am grateful to assist the families knowing the company puts the family first, like I do!
Q. What advice do you have for teenage girls?
A. My advice to teenage girls would be simply: BE YOURSELF!

Nancy Miers Administrator Manager
February marked Nancy’s 20 year milestone with Palm Mortuary and also her birthday month.
Nancy has exceptional organizational skills and instinctively carries out all her duties in the best interest of our company mission and our families. Our staff and leaders are grateful for her leadership, time, and dedication. Nancy has served in various roles. And is responsible for the most important vital documents and transactions.
Her career started in Chino, California, in which she served 14 years. Nancy was referred to Rachel who introduced her to Raymer Pry, Marketing Director, for Inland Empire (now the Hispana Market). Raymer, relocated to Las Vegas, NV. He contacted Nancy and offered her a position with the Las Vegas Market in the Death Certificate Department.
Nancy has remained and since been promoted as an Administrator Manager. She is responsible for meeting deadlines, overseeing all vital documents are valid and in order, and manages account receivables. She enjoys training and multi-tasking. Her team is diligent and efficient.
Ms. Rosemary (Nancy’s mother) 21 years ago, insisted on introducing Nancy to Ricardo; during the time of Nancy’s career pursuit with Palm Mortuary. Ms. Rosemary, impressed upon Nancy that Ricardo had a ‘positive attitude’ and that Ricardo was very handsome. Nancy landed a career and a husband (hence 21 years later).
Fondly, Ms. Rosemary will be 90 years young on March 24, 2024. There is a tremendous amount of joy and love between them.
Together they are doting grandparents/great-grandma of Jesse (1st and only grandson).
Q. Who do you want to thank?
A. I really want to thank Celena Dilullo (President Palm Market) for our monthly leadership meetings that I enjoy. I really appreciate her motivation, guidance and emerging our visibility as leaders into the Las Vegas community.
Q. What is the best advice you have been given?
A. The best advice, that I have been given came from my mother, she said, “Always love yourself first, self-care is mandatory. In order to help others, you must look nice, and be of good example to others. Show compassion for other people.” This was sage advice that I passed onto to my two daughters.
Q. How do you cheer yourself up?
A. When I’m alone, I cheer myself up by dancing and playing with my little dog Chloe, she responds to 80’s music.
Q. What keeps you going?
A. The reflection of my daughters and my grandbaby Jesse. They are a gift from God. It is a blessing that we are all close. Whether its reading, writing, or conversation, it’s important to communicate. I taught my daughters to be expressive, be a friend, share, and be compassionate, as my mother taught me.
