Do not make this mistake when your baby is born…Many new parents tend to “google” and read up on many things when they are expecting. Among those things are the medications newborn receives at birth. Newborns receives 3 recommended medications at birth, unless parents signs a refusal consent NOT to administer these recommended meds. At birth, newborns receive: ⭐️ 1) Erythromycin eye ointment ⭐️ 2) Vitamin K injection ⭐️ 3) Hepatitis B vaccine (generally a 3-dose series - at birth, 1 month, and 6 months) Personally, I have seen many parents refused these meds for their newborn, which is their prerogative. However, with this decision, I tend to wonder where they are getting their reading sources from. 🤔 My suggestion: IF you refuse any of these medications, the one I suggest that you DO NOT refuse is the Vitamin K injection. Because newborn bodies are unable to produce Vitamin K and only has a small amount transferred to them in utero at birth, so without this ability to obtain/produce Vitamin K, you are putting your newborn at risk for internal hemorrhage (bleeding) and by the time you realize something is wrong with your baby, it’s too late! 😔 So PLEASE, DO NOT refuse the Vitamin K injection for your baby. As the temperature 🌡️ gets hotter hot outside, don’t forget:💧 Do not give water to babies under 6 months old - their formula/breast milk will suffice. ☀️ Do not leave children and pets unattended in the hot car.. temps get well over +105F inside the car. 💺 Do not leave babies in car seat for more than 2 hours at a time.. it can get super hot sitting in their car seat for that long period of time; and in general, as their spine is still growing..
