Know Your Rights: Pregnancy, Birth, Lactation

As we continue to see high numbers of Black maternal and infant mortality our community has come together to provide FREE childbirth and lactation education coupled with the importance of knowing your rights. Workshops are facilitated by local doulas, lactation consultants, and childbirth educators. There will be raffle items and resources.

10 to 10:15 am - Welcome, raffle tickets hand out, and share the schedule for the day

10:30 to 11:30 am - Pregnancy 101 led by Jacinta Wood (Body + Womb : Birth & Wellness Services)

11:30 am to 12:30 pm - Breast / Chestfeeding 101 led by Latch Las Vegas (Brittni Lents & Rikki Jenkins)

12:30 to 1 pm - Lunch break

1 to 2 pm - Preparing for Postpartum led by Cristina Hernandez (UNLV School of Public Health)

2 to 3 pm - Know Your Rights led by Tiara Flynn (The Phenomenal Mama)

What a beautiful offering!

Feliz Año!!! ✨🥂✨We are so excited to announce that we will be welcoming this year with another round of the Brown Fatherhood Series! The last one was puro 🔥 and this one will be más 🔥.

This virtual series is a candid conversation about identity and culture with Brown fathers who are committed to decolonizing their fathering.

In this hour-long plática, our guests will speak on their own fatherhood experience as Brown men, as well as the work they are doing in their communities to combat machismo by reframing and reimagining masculinity.
 
This series will be offered for FREE and is open to the entire comunidad - not just fathers. Former niños, this is for you too. Mujeres, this is for you too. EVERYONE, come.

At issue is whether to reverse the court's nearly half-century-old decision, Roe v. Wade, and subsequent decisions declaring that women have a constitutional right to terminate a pregnancy.

I'm preparing for the new year! Know of anyone who might need a doula? If so, share this flyer with them. After a break for a couple months, I'm excited to return to taking clients. My childbirth education classes will also begin in the new year. More to come on that!

Livia Amora (therapy practicum student & social worker) will be hosting a bi weekly, bilingual (English, Spanish & Portuguese) support group starting OCTOBER 1st!

Where: Heart and Sol Collective 7381 Prairie Falcon Rd Ste 120
When: Bi weekly, every 1st & 3rd Friday 4pm- 5pm

Who: anyone about to have a baby or in the 1st year of the postpartum period

Suggested donation: $10
All donations go towards refreshments, child friendly activities & group materials. Kids under 4 yo welcome

Starting In October will be launching an IN PERSON, donation based, bilingual postpartum support group!

Space will be limited so RSVP via email will be required. Children under 4 yo are allowed to accompany caregivers. There will be 2 groups offered bi weekly on Wednesday & Friday evenings.

Group will be led by Livia Ramalho, a therapy practicum student & Social Worker. She speaks English, Spanish & Portuguese.

All donations from the group will pay for refreshments, group materials & children’s’ activities. More details to come, including how to RSVP!
