Need to brush up on your leader skills, look no further as Flex Ed is offering a Charge Nurse Online class with that in mind: -

Charge Nurse - Creating a Culture of Safety -
Friday 15th August, 9:00am - 5:00pm (PST) - Via Zoom.

The Joint Commission and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) have recognized that safe patient care begins when hospital units have such extensive teamwork in place that all staff feel safe bringing concerns and ideas to improve care.

This advanced class for charge nurses will focus on the role of the nurse leader in creating and developing this atmosphere. This class will build on basic leadership skills and then expand on those ideas to include the leader's role with improving customer service, continuous survey readiness, and critical events.

Additionally, the course will discuss the key roles of the front line leader in development of a "Just Culture" in the unit, including hourly rounding, debriefing, simulations, and effective communication and feedback to others.

How did it start?

• In 2018, New Jersey became the first state to designate January 23rd as Maternal Health Awareness Day.
• Since 2021, ACOG has celebrated Maternal Health Awareness Day nationally on January 23rd.
What is the goal?
• The goal of Maternal Health Awareness Day is to raise awareness of maternal health risks and drive action to improve maternal health outcomes.
How can you participate?
• Share your efforts to improve maternal health outcomes on social media using the hashtag .
• Learn about maternal health initiatives and how to receive the best care possible.

Flex Ed are proud to offer classes that improve patient safety in the maternity unit including conducting OB Emergency Drills for Post Partum Hemorrhage and Hypertension. This year’s Theme is 'Know What’s at Stake'.
Every year, we see the heartbreaking reality of maternal mortality in the U.S., especially among postpartum people. With approximately 80% of these deaths being preventable and half occurring postpartum, it is clear we need to do more.
