Flex Ed is holding a Rapid Response Team class (In-Person) at Pomona Valley Hospital on Wednesday 5th March, 8:00am - 12:00pm.

The 2011 National Patient Safety Goal 16A requires that hospitals improve recognition and responses to changes in a patient's condition by providing staff with a mechanism for requesting help from specially trained individuals when the patient's condition appears to be deteriorating. This class reviews the essential elements needed to have an effective rapid response team in the hospital setting. The class will also review assessment skills necessary for the general staff as well as those that are on the rapid response team.

Today, Flex Ed has gone Red in honor of the AHA’s National Heart month and gone Red for Women.

To go Red on this day, you simply need to wear an article of red clothing. By going Red you will help raise awareness to Cardiovascular Disease being the #1 killer of men and women worldwide. Dysrhythmia Highlights - ONLINE Course Scheduled for Wednesday 26th February; 9:00am - 5:00pm PST.

This course will review common dysrhythmias and treatment modalities including atrial and ventricular rhythms, and heart blocks. Sample strips will be reviewed for participants to practice rhythm identification. At the end of the class, students must achieve an 80% or higher on the rhythm identification exam to receive continuing education credits.

This course requires an RCAT Tool (used for measuring ECG intervals) during the class. The RCAT Tool is $10.00.

Today Celebrates Maternal Mental Health Awareness Day - 23rd January.

The day was created to educate people about maternal health initiatives and raise awareness of maternal health risks.
How did it start?
• The day was first celebrated in ACOG District III to educate citizens about maternal health initiatives.
• In 2018, New Jersey became the first state to designate January 23rd as Maternal Health Awareness Day.
• Since 2021, ACOG has celebrated Maternal Health Awareness Day nationally on January 23rd.
What is the goal?
• The goal of Maternal Health Awareness Day is to raise awareness of maternal health risks and drive action to improve maternal health outcomes.
How can you participate?
• Share your efforts to improve maternal health outcomes on social media using the hashtag .
• Learn about maternal health initiatives and how to receive the best care possible.

Flex Ed is Excited to Announce Our Upcoming Wound Care - Skin Integrity - Pressure Injury ONLINE Class, via Zoom.
Sandra Higelin (MSN, RN, CNS, CWCN, CLNC) Presenting.

- Upon completion of this workshop participants will be able to discuss skin integrity/pressure ulcer management utilizing Evidence Based Practice per National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP), standards of care, guidelines, policies and procedures, and government regulations. Participants will also be able to discuss the most recent definitions per NPIAP guidelines including staging, deep tissue injury (DTI), avoidable vs unavoidable pressure injures. Define the 8 elements of pressure injury prevention/management, identify the factors leading to litigation and legal care practices.

Introduction to Critical Care Nursing (5-Day Class): -
This class follows the content and curriculum outlined by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and is designed to provide a knowledge base for the experienced nurse to enter the practice of Critical Care Nursing. Case studies will be used to identify clinical issues and develop critical thinking skills.
A course binder is available for download and will be available through the last day of the course, or a hard copy may be purchased for $25.00 + shipping.
Note: Knowledge of basic cardiac dysrhythmias and ACLS protocols are expected in order to attend this course.

Attendance and participation in all course dates and a score of 80% on the final online exam are required for course completion. If the student is unable to pass the online exam with a score of 80% or higher on the 2nd attempt, the student will be required to repeat the entire course to receive CE credit.

He has been a Registered Respiratory Therapist for 25 years and holds a Bachelors in Clinical and Services Management and a Master's in Healthcare Administration from Texas Tech University. Stroke Training
The Stroke Training course is designed to help participants prepare to take the NIH Stroke Scale Certification. This course covers what it means to be a Primary Stroke Center along with Stroke warning signs and symptoms, Stroke pathophysiology, differences between hemorrhagic and ischemic Stroke, Stroke scales, assessment, treatment, performance improvement measure and benchmarks.

Sepsis Review and Update
This course will discuss the rising morbidity and mortality statistics associated with sepsis in adults. It will enhance the ability to identify patients at risk for sepsis. It will also discuss the ways to recognize the signs and symptoms of SIRS, organ dysfunction, severe sepsis, sepsis with hypo perfusion, and septic shock. Understanding how to screen and initiate treatment to prevent the progression of sepsis will be covered. Enhanced knowledge of recommended bundles will be included as well.
