Today was an incredible day at the Women Veterans Conference at the Legislative Building here in Las Vegas. We had the privilege of connecting with more than 200 women veterans while sharing the mission and services of HeadsUp.

Throughout the day, powerful conversations centered around the future of veteran healthcare, with a strong focus on expanding resources and improving care for women veterans. Leaders spoke about important policy changes, new opportunities coming to veteran healthcare, and the continued work being done to ensure those who have served receive the support they deserve.

We were also honored to hear remarks from Senator Jackie Rosen, who spoke about ongoing legislative efforts and the importance of strengthening programs and access to care for veterans across our state and nation.

In recognition of the incredible impact of women who have served, Governor Joe Lombardo issued a proclamation declaring March as Women’s Military History Month in the State of Nevada — a meaningful reminder of the courage, leadership, and sacrifices made by women in the military.

Beyond the speakers and discussions, the networking throughout the day was truly incredible. Providers, organizations, advocates, and veterans came together to build connections, share resources, and strengthen the community that supports those who have served.

At HeadsUp, we were proud to be part of these conversations and to share how our team of providers continues to support veterans through accessible mental health services, specialized programs like our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and a deep commitment to caring for those who have given so much.

Days like today remind us that when communities, leaders, and providers come together with a shared mission, real progress happens.

We are grateful to have been part of such an inspiring event and look forward to continuing the work of supporting our veterans — especially the incredible women who have served our country.

Today, HeadsUp is honored to be at the Women Veterans Conference at the Legislative Building in Las Vegas, connecting with nearly 200 incredible women who have served our country. 🇺🇸

Our team is here sharing information about the counseling and support services we offer to veterans and their families, and having meaningful conversations about mental health, resilience, and the importance of community.

Women veterans carry unique experiences and strengths, and it’s a privilege to stand alongside them, listen to their stories, and ensure they know support is available.

If you’re attending today, stop by and say hello — we’d love to connect with you.

Thank you to all the women who have served and continue to lead in our communities. ❤️

✨ No-Cost Counseling Opportunities at HeadsUp ✨

HeadsUp currently has a few open spots available for NO-COST counseling through our practicum student program.

These sessions are provided by graduate-level counseling students who are completing their practicum training under professional supervision. Clients who participate in this program will typically be able to work with the same student counselor throughout the duration of their placement at HeadsUp, helping create consistency and a supportive therapeutic relationship.

If you are still receiving services when the student’s placement ends, we can discuss options for transitioning your care to another practicum student, if one is available.

🎥 In the video below, our Clinical Director, Dr. Scott, explains more about this opportunity and how the program works.

This is a wonderful opportunity to receive supportive counseling at no cost while also helping future mental health professionals gain valuable clinical experience.

📩 Message us to learn more or to see if one of these open spots is right for you.
Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come basis.

🎉 Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know your brain can’t actually multitask? 🤯
When we think we’re multitasking, our brains are really rapidly switching between tasks. Each switch uses extra mental energy, which can make us slower and more prone to mistakes.

So today’s productivity tip:
✨ Try focusing on one task at a time — your brain will thank you!

What’s one thing you’re focusing on before the weekend? 👇

For the third year in a row, members of our HeadsUp admin team and practicum students had the honor of attending the Las Vegas Veterans Stand Down hosted by U.S. VETS.

Today, 400+ veterans were served through this incredible one-day event that connects veterans who are experiencing — or at risk of — homelessness with essential services in one coordinated location. Veterans had access to:

✔️ Housing assistance
✔️ Employment & workforce services
✔️ Healthcare & mental health support
✔️ Legal aid
✔️ Benefits navigation
✔️ Essential items and community resources

The Stand Down is designed to reduce barriers and streamline access to care by bringing multiple organizations together to create clear pathways toward long-term stability across Southern Nevada.

We were especially inspired by the incredible number of community members who showed up and the many businesses and organizations that participated. Seeing so many people come together with a shared mission to support our veterans was truly powerful.

We are grateful to stand alongside organizations like U.S. VETS who continue to meet veterans where they are and provide real, lasting support.

💙 If you are a veteran and are ready to begin or continue your mental health journey, please reach out to us. We are honored to help guide you through the process of being seen and supported.

🤝 If you would like to get involved — whether through volunteering, employment opportunities, or community partnerships — you can connect with U.S. VETS or reach out to our team and we’ll help point you in the right direction.

And don’t forget 👟 the Steps for Vets 5K is coming up in May!

Together, we can continue showing up for those who have served. 🇺🇸💙

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start feeling better.

Sometimes progress looks like:
