As of September 28, 2021, Kids Arthritis Care will no longer accept Health Plan of Nevada (HPN) or Sierra Health and Life Insurance plans. Our current and future patients have the option of changing to any other health insurer before August 15, 2021, so that they may receive continuous, uninterrupted pediatric rheumatology care. We regret this inconvenience caused by unacceptable restrictions placed upon us by these insurance companies with regards to appropriate referrals and medication options. We have worked tirelessly to resolve these issues without luck, and Dr. Lowe refuses to practice medicine in a way that would compromise the health and lives of his patients.

Dr. Lowe has serious concerns about the quality of care for his patients who are insured with Health Plan of Nevada (HPN) UnitedHealthcare. His numerous efforts to reach the medical directors at HPN have gone unanswered, and they refuse to hear or address his concerns regarding inappropriate denials of necessary and critical medications for his patients. Dr. Lowe is the only pediatric rheumatologist in the state of Nevada, and is seriously considering cancelling his contract with HPN, as they are making it difficult for him to properly care for his patients. This would force his roughly 800 HPN patients to travel out of state to receive rheumatology care. Dr. Lowe is deeply troubled by the lack of communication and the failure of HPN to address his concerns impacting patient care.
