On behalf of everyone at EyeCare4Kids, we would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Elaine Wynn. Along with countless other nonprofits, we are incredibly honored to be recognized and supported by Elaine for the work we do in the community. However, it is the work of Elaine, and the Elaine P. Wynn & Family Foundation, that shines bright and we know her legacy will forever endure. A quick story about Elaine…EyeCare4Kids was fortunate to be included in the Light the World Giving Machine campaign and Elaine and Punam made a visit one evening at Downtown Summerlin. As the photographer was gathering the charity representatives for a photo with Elaine, a young boy wandered over to her and said, “All of these people want a picture with you. Are you someone important?” And, without missing a beat, Elaine responded, “Not nearly as important as you,” and then gave him a hug and asked him to stay in the picture. Forever a true champion for children ❤

EyeCare4Kids would like to send a huge thank you to our friends at United Way of Southern Nevada, as well as the folks at United Way of Northern Nevada, Nevada Grant Lab and NV Energy for coordinating a fantastic nonprofit day at the Nevada Legislature on Wednesday! Such a great opportunity to connect with our elected officials, spend time with friends and create some new relationships, while highlighting the work of the nonprofit sector in our state.

In honor of Women’s History Month, EyeCare4Kids would like to share the phenomenal accomplishments of Dr. Patricia Bath. Receiving her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Bath became the first woman to chair an ophthalmology residency program in the United States. As an inventor and laser scientist, she eventually created a device called the laserphaco probe, which removes cataracts. After five years of research and testing, the invention came to fruition and is still used today. Thank you, Dr. Bath, for your outstanding contributions to vision care!

On behalf of everyone at EyeCare4Kids, I would like to send a huge thank you to superstar Paulette Anderson, the Board of Directors and everyone at Speedway Children's Charities for an absolutely wonderful 2024 grant ceremony! Receiving a $10,000 award will enable us to help well over 100 children in our community with professional vision care. By the end of the evening, over $530,000 had been granted to 83 children's charities! We applaud the tireless efforts of our friends at SCC Las Vegas! ❤💚
