How do you check my child’s eyesight without them telling you what looks better??

It’s a common question we get from parents worried that their child isn’t ready for their first exam. Through a simple test called , we can take objective readings on even the most wiggly of kids. By shining a light from a retinoscope into their eye from a comfortable distance, we neutralize the motion of the light with a retinoscopy bar shown here. It has lots of lens strengths that we use to determine whether they are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism.

In short, we see kids as young as 6 months old for comprehensive eye exams.
