Today's exciting announcement: HealClick is becoming part of HealthRising and will now be managed by Cort Johnson! Cort has created and maintained the HealthRising website for several years, and has turned it into an exciting space for sharing information and support. I personally am incredibly excited to see HealClick become part of HealthRising where it will have a chance at re-emerging as a flourishing community. I know that Cort is excited to incorporate the site in order to make HealthRising even more valuable. I'll let Cort speak here about his plans, but I know he intends to rely on community input to make ongoing improvements to the site. He will also make sure that all user data remains available to current users (nothing will be lost with the transfer). Look for these changes early in the New Year. Something to look forward to! Yaaaaay HealthRising! Yay HealClick!

I accept this data as true, but what I hate about the way this is reported is that there is no sense of scale. I think of emotions as the 5% factor - they shift things for better or worse by perhaps 5%, but they do not cause the basic underlying condition (or so it seems to me). Without a sense of scale, a story like this reinforces feelings of guilt and self-blame. Also, emotions are difficult to control! So willing oneself to be happy all the time simply isn't much of an option. All that said, to the extent one can find things to do and ways to live that lift our spirits, it can help, some. Again, my opinion only.

Negative mood—such as sadness and anger—is associated with higher levels of inflammation and may be a signal of poor health, according to researchers at Penn State.
