QUIT NUMBING! STOP AVOIDING! SHOW UP!

The world is on fire and we’re supposed to carry on like nothing is happening…

Everything in our conditioning, from our routines, to reinforcement from our environment and the people in our lives, down to the subconscious tapes we play in our minds, is constantly pulling us in to more of the same.

More hitting the snooze button at 6am, more doom scrolling, more coffee, more getting ready for work, more asking ChatGPT, more superfluous online shopping… you hit the pillow exhausted, engage in even more doom scrolling… copy, paste, repeat

Unpopular opinion: I’m seeing a lot of posts from yoga teachers conflating the practice of yoga with a responsibility to participate in social justice issues. This is especially problematic when it’s coming from teachers who’ve been teaching yoga a long time and have made a name for themselves as “yoga teachers” in their communities… if we want to carry that title, we have a responsibility to the teachings of yoga, and a soul level responsibility to the students who are looking to us to help them navigate this crazy mess that is the material world in Kali Yuga.

First, let me soften this by saying, It’s not your fault… I called myself a “yoga teacher” for over a decade before I found out what “yoga” actually is. There is so much misinformation and misinterpretation of the Vedic teachings embedded in the yoga system, deep ancient wisdom diluted for our palates, trimmed down to fit our limited perspective, and packaged with extra sparkly feel-good ribbons, then regurgitated over and over without second thought…

For me, personally, integrity is one of my core values… so eventually I just got itchy to stop taking everyone else’s word for it and find out for myself. That’s when I found teachers who come from an actual bonafide lineage, and I put my nose into some books like the Gita and the Bhagavatam, and I put my head down and asked some very uncomfortable soul searching questions….

If you’re feeling that call, I have the perfect place for you to start… we do Spiritual Talks twice a month on Sundays… I’m not selling anything—not a single program, training, retreat, or package… all you have to do is show up… I also record the sessions and we have a WhatsApp group where I share the recordings and we talk about them, so if you’re not local, you can still be part of the conversation. Just let me know you’re interested and it would be an absolute honor to have you 💓 Hare Krishna 💕
