The Big Picture of Healthy and Happy!
We all want to be Healthy and Happy everyday, however what do we assess of ourselves daily to understand the big picture of what is realistic? Based on an assessment of the areas of the wheel of health we can properly assess our state of realistic healthy and happiness.
As you know I work to help others primarily with physical health goals. So, I'm always assessing clients physical health, however I'm also assessing the big picture that effects physical health.
Understanding the big picture of health and happiness is understanding the wheel of health. Setting realistic expectations and goals, whether it be physical goals or other areas of concern, a good assessment is key to knowing where work needs to be focused. So, a good assessment of our entire wheel of health is very important in staying healthy and happy and in balance. The good news is you can do this assessment daily on yourself.
To do this we need to review the wheel of health and these areas that I am talking about.
1. Physical - How well you body functions
2. Mental - How good you feel about yourself and manage yourself.
3. Emotional - How well you feel emotionally and psychologically.
4. Spiritual - How you live with a purpose. Personal mission or vision in life.
5. Social - How well you interact with others.
Sure, each area is a life long journey, but with frequent assessments the needle can move forward. You can start by just assessing yourself daily on each area allowing you to understand what you can do to move the needle to a more super healthy and happier you everyday.
Each area is directly related, for example, if you don't manage yourself to eat well (physical) because you forgot your purpose (spiritual), because your work (environment) made you sad (Emotional) and there were no friends (social) to vent to that day your health and happiness is going to be, not so healthy and happy. You can see the importance each area has on one another. But you have the power to assess your health and happiness everyday and understand why you are in your current state of healthy and happy and can make a change with proper acknowledgement of your wheel of health.
Another topic for another time is how to take action to improve your wheel of health so that one area does not always get out of control and bring down the others. For example, we can't always control our stressfull environment, but we can use our other areas, to bring us back up instead of down as well if we assess the big picture. Remember any given day one area can be the weak link, learn and understand the other areas to avoid unhealthy and unhappy days.
Thanks for reading!
Hope this contributes to your Health and Happiness today!
