๐Ÿ’ก When was the last time you let yourself sit with your feelings instead of distracting yourself from them?

Often, instead of letting ourselves feel our more stronger emotions, we have been taught to cope by distracting ourselves from them. Unfortunately this only bottles up said emotions and eventually they will have to be expressed, and usually they end up being expressed in a less than pleasant manner.

๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ In order to really process these emotions, we have to start being comfortable in sitting with our stronger, more unpleasant emotions so that we can regulate them. There are many different methods to sit with your emotions including mediation and therapy!

Many of us go through things that we donโ€™t really like to talk about. Still, talking about those events might be whatโ€™ll help someone get through it. Talking about issues out loud with another person present not only presents it verbally instead of keeping it inside where it could possibly get confused and misconstrued, but having another person there to talk about it with could bring a different perspective to the table.

โค๏ธ Checking up on friends makes the connection and relationship stronger, but first make sure you check in with yourself and see if you are in the right mindset to do so.

๐Ÿ’ก Itโ€™s important to take time and adjust back to work life on Mondays. When starting work back up again, make sure to start slowly, taking in the often hectic environment so that you donโ€™t become overwhelmed.

The difference between normal listening and mindful listening is that we pay attention to every detail of what the speaker is saying and acknowledge their feelings as well as encourage them to explore their experience and stay in the present moment. It makes all the difference to someone when they feel seen, heard, and validated!

Historically, normality was in regards to pathology and disease/ailments within the body. As society progressed, people started to refer to โ€œthe social normโ€ and what the majority believes to be normal. Unfortunately, people who are not a straight, white, and neurotypical male in this country are often not perceived as normal and are often ridiculed, brainwashed into benefiting the majority at the cost of their own peace of mind, and even hurt because of it.

๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Striving to be โ€œnormalโ€ is an unrealistic expectation for many of us, so instead of trying to fit everyone in a mold, we must strive to accept everyoneโ€™s differences instead and accommodate accordingly.

๐Ÿ’ก Daily routines give a sense of structure and balance as well as control to oneโ€™s own day, and having one improves mental and emotional stability.

A study published in The Lancet Psychiatry found that people who favor an active daytime routine over a nighttime one have healthier sleeping cycles. These, consequently, are associated with better mental health and minimize the risk of developing emotional difficulties. Those with an interrupted sleep cycle, on the contrary, have a higher predisposition to manifest mental health difficulties.
