National Mental Health Awareness Month is founded on bringing awareness to the stigma associated with mental health. In addition, the event brings the effects of mental health and behavioral health to the public's attention. The stigma associated with mental health can truly impact an individual's success in treatment. Individuals and their families who deal with mental health should be comfortable seeking services without the fear of being stigmatized by others. That is why National Mental Health Awareness Month is crucial, not only does it spread the word, but it also supports those individuals who are faced with challenges regarding their mental health.
