Accessibility & Comfort Considerations

Outdoor festivals can vary in accessibility, so here are a few things to keep in mind if you’re planning to attend:

♿ Mobility access
Petrack Park is a public park with paved pathways, but festival areas may include grass, dirt, or temporary vendor layouts that can be uneven. Mobility devices may work best on paved areas.

🌡️ Weather & temperature
Late March in the desert can vary widely. Expect daytime sun and cooler evenings. Bringing sunscreen, water, and layers can help with comfort and fatigue management.

👂 Noise & sensory environment
Live music, carnival rides, and large crowds can make the environment loud and stimulating. If you’re sensitive to sound, earplugs or noise-reducing headphones may help.

🪑 Rest & pacing
Events like this can involve a lot of walking. If you plan to attend for several hours, consider pacing yourself and looking for seating areas or shaded spots.

🐶 Service animals
Service animals are typically permitted at public events, but crowds and loud environments can be stressful for animals as well.

🚗 Parking
Parking areas may require walking into the park. Arriving earlier in the day can sometimes make access easier.

Mental health support is a disability and community issue.

Nevada was ranked 51st in the nation for mental health care access again in 2025, meaning our state continues to struggle with provider shortages, long waitlists, and barriers to care for both adults and youth.

For many people in the disability and chronic illness community, mental health services aren’t optional. They are part of surviving daily life, managing trauma, coping with medical conditions, and staying connected to work, family, and community.

Advocates are also raising concerns that new federal policy proposals could reduce funding for programs like Medicaid, which many people rely on for therapy, medications, and crisis support.

When mental health systems are underfunded, the people most affected are often:
• disabled individuals
• people with chronic illness
• low-income families
• youth and young adults
• people in rural communities

Nevadans deserve accessible, affordable mental health care.

If you want to learn more about the report and what it could mean for our state, you can read the article here:

Nevada ranks 51st in youth and overall mental health metrics in 2025 — again — and ranked 49th in adult mental health metrics, according to an annual report assessing mental health access and care in the U.S. The state has owned dismal rankings in the annual report published by Mental Health Ame...
