Tummy time doesn’t have to be one-size-fits-all!

If your baby is struggling with traditional tummy time on the floor, there are plenty of ways to modify the position while still building important strength and developmental skills until they can tolerate floor time.

✨ Over a therapy ball for gentle movement and support

✨ Propped over a Boppy pillow to make lifting easier

✨ Rolled towel under the chest for a small boost

✨ Chest-to-chest on a parent for bonding and comfort

These modifications can help babies practice lifting their head, strengthening their neck, shoulders, and core, and developing the skills needed for rolling, sitting, crawling, and beyond.

Remember: every minute counts! Finding a position your baby enjoys can make tummy time more successful and less stressful for everyone.

Tummy time starts from day one! 👶🏼

Those little moments on their belly help build the foundation for so many important skills — head control, strength, coordination, rolling, crawling, and even future fine motor development.

A few minutes at a time, several times a day, can make a big difference. Start early, keep it playful, and remember: tummy time counts on your chest, across your lap, or on the floor!

If your child has difficulty tolerating tummy time, click the link in bio to schedule an evaluation with one of our expert physical therapists.

Celebrating our next OT… Meghan!

We asked her…. What is your favorite part of OT. She said “My favorite part about OT is getting to help kids learn through play! I love discovering what sparks joy in each kid and how we can incorporate that into our sessions. I also love seeing all of the growth that our kids make.”

A fun fact about Meghan is she is expecting her baby boy in September!

Thank you for bringing great energy and even better relationships to the clinic! 💙💙

Therapy Tip Thursday!

Bubbles aren’t just fun—they’re powerful tools in pediatric occupational therapy 🫧

Blowing and popping bubbles helps support visual motor skills as kids track, reach, and coordinate their movements to interact with something in motion. It also encourages eye-hand coordination and focus in a playful, low-pressure way.

And when kids move, jump, reach, or spin to chase those floating bubbles, they’re getting valuable vestibular input, which supports balance, body awareness, and overall regulation.
Play with purpose is at the heart of what we do—and sometimes, progress really does look like chasing bubbles 💫

April is OT month and we wanted to feature our wonderful OT’s so you can get to know them! First up.. Courtney.

We asked her, what is your favorite part about OT? She said… My favorite part about OT is being able to create a safe space for kids to explore, learn and grow! I highly value my therapeutic relationships and utilizing connection and shared joy to build skills. I feel honored to help kids (and families) be able to participate in meaningful occupations by increasing their supports and decreasing barriers.

April is OT month. So this Therapy tip Tuesday is brought to you by our very own, Courtney!

Crawling over cushions isn’t just fun—it’s powerful for development!

When kids crawl over uneven, soft surfaces like cushions, they’re building core and upper body strength while also improving coordination and motor planning (figuring out how to move their body through space).

This kind of activity also provides rich proprioceptive input—the “body awareness” sense—which can help with regulation, focus, and calming the nervous system.

Why cushions specifically? They create an unpredictable, ever-changing surface that challenges balance, engages more muscles, and encourages problem-solving with every move.

Bonus: Crawling supports bilateral coordination (using both sides of the body together) and helps lay the foundation for skills dressing, handwriting, and classroom activities.

Therapy tip Tuesday!

The weather is getting nicer which makes it the perfect time to start exploring different terrains! Walking on grass, wood chips, turf, sand, etc. is great strengthening not only for new walkers but also big kids!

This is a great barefoot activity as well to allow for movement and strengthening of the foot and ankle and sensory exploration.
