SVMC is expanding medical weight loss options in the region with Albany-based Capital Bariatrics.

Capital Bariatrics became a practice of SVMC’s Twin Rivers Medical, P.C in February and officially reopened the Albany office at 7 Southwoods Boulevard on March 10. The team is also practicing out of Bennington, Vermont. The clinical team at Capital Bariatrics is led by surgeons Matthew D. McDonald, DO (left) and Terence Clarke, MD (right). The team provides surgical options, medical weight loss programs, comprehensive support and post-surgery care.

“Capital Bariatrics has an established reputation in the region and years of expertise,” said Trey Dobson, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of clinical services at SVMC. “Building upon our existing relationship was a natural progression and one we know will have a positive impact on the communities we serve.”

Your day-to-day will be filled with diverse responsibilities, from conducting in-depth patient assessments and interpreting diagnostic tests to prescribing cutting-edge treatments and developing personalized management plans. You'll have the opportunity to create tailored nutritional plans alongside our skilled dietitians, ensuring each patient has the best chance for success. As a key player in preoperative evaluations and postoperative care, you’ll guide patients through every step of their bariatric surgery journey, educating them on options, risks, benefits, and crucial lifestyle changes.

Effective communication and collaboration are at the heart of this role. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, dietitians, behavioral health providers, and pharmacists, to deliver holistic, patient-centered care. Your clear clinical documentation and strong interpersonal skills will ensure seamless care coordination and support for your patients.

We’re looking for a candidate with a robust clinical foundation, excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, and a genuine passion for patient-centered care. You must hold an active NYS NP/PA license and have at least one year of experience in a similar role.
