🔸 Tristin - our Assistant Operations Manager! 🔹

Tristin is a recent graduate from Slippery Rock University. She holds a BS in Exercise Science and a BA in Dance. Throughout her time at SRU, she found herself leaning into the fitness and nutrition aspects of exercise science. She also found a passion for education - whether it is learning or teaching. Tristin received her 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification in the summer of 2025 and is currently pursuing NASM certification as a Wellness Coach.

Outside of MFK, Tristin is also a gymnastics coach and choreographer. She enjoys working with students of all ages while witnessing them grow into their passion and artistry. Tristin loves traveling, hiking, spending time with her family, the Pittsburgh Penguins, playing Scrabble, and doing any kind of craft.

🎉 Tristin was MFK’s 2025 Fall intern and excelled at this role so much that she is now our Assistant Operations Manager! Her enthusiasm, desire to learn, and organizational qualities have greatly impacted MFK. We cannot be more thrilled to have her on our team. Welcome Tristin! 🎉

🔹 Meet Julia - one of our excellent coaches! 🔸

Julia Lang is a golf performance coach and former collegiate athlete who blends science-based training with real-world athletic experience. A 2017 graduate of Mercyhurst University, she was a standout softball player and earned All-American honors her sophomore year.

After beginning her career as a Director of Marketing for a financial planning firm, Julia followed her lifelong passion for athlete development and movement. In 2019, a chance opportunity led her to My Fitness Kitchen, where she earned her certifications and developed as a coach under expert mentorship before stepping into independent coaching. She continues to invest heavily in her education, including Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 1 and Fitness Level 2 certifications, with a strong emphasis on mobility, strength, speed, and long-term performance.

While Julia has a deep passion for training golfers and helping them move better, swing faster, and stay healthy for life, she works with individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels - athletes and non-athletes alike. Outside of the gym, she can often be found on the golf course, running, hiking, skiing in the winter, reading, or expressing her creative side through drawing and painting. While previously not self-described as a “people person,” Julia has found her true calling in coaching and loves communicating and helping others unlock their potential. She believes that everyone is an athlete in their own way and that movement is truly medicine.

🔹 Meet Chris - one of our standout coaches! 🔸

Graduating from IUP in 2014 with a BS in Exercise Science, Chris launched his career in the fitness industry by joining My Fitness Kitchen and co-founding a private gym with a college friend. He earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, reinforcing his commitment to evidence-based training and long-term athletic development.

Throughout his career, he has worked with individuals of all ages and ability levels - from youth and recreational clients to high-level and professional athletes, including Pittsburgh Steelers professional football kicker Chris Boswell. His approach emphasizes safe, effective, and individualized programming designed to improve performance, build strength, and support lifelong movement and health.

Outside of the gym, Chris is a dedicated husband, friend, and new father! He and his wife, Nicole, celebrated the birth of their baby, Maevelyn, at the end of October. Chris enjoys being outdoors, especially taking his two dogs, Minkah and Izzy, for walks. He is into all things sports, specifically football.

My Fitness Kitchen was founded in August 2008 by Mark and Theresa Rullo. My Fitness Kitchen was initially built as a nutrition coaching and fitness training facility all packed into one, but we have reestablished what we are about.

My Fitness Kitchen is not just a gym - we are a coaching center serving the Greater Latrobe and surrounding areas. MFK blends personal training, livable nutrition, and ongoing accountability into a semi-private coaching model. What does this mean? Semi-private coaching is a training model that allows multiple clients to work with one coach simultaneously while following their own individualized programs. Training in a small-group setting allows our members to stay consistent, feel supported, and build genuine connections with others who share similar goals. You are never just showing up for a workout - you are showing up for a team that keeps you accountable and motivated.

We specialize in coaching adults 40+ on the journey of building and protecting lean muscle while pursuing the ability to move better. MFK is about longevity, sustainability, and support. Before You Hire a Coach, Ask These 2 Questions (Most Never Do)

If you’re thinking about hiring a fitness coach because you're frustrated with your progress — but you’re unsure what to look for and worried about wasting more time, energy, and money — this will help you.

I’m Mark, owner and Exercise Physiologist at MyFitnessKitchen. After 40 years in this industry, here’s what I’ve learned:

👉 Passion does NOT equal competence. The best way to tell the difference is to start with a plan, not a contract.

When you sit down for any strategy session — with us or anyone else — ask these 2 questions:

1️⃣ “How will you make it fit for ME?”
A real coach should factor in your schedule, family, social life, limitations, preferences, and real availability. At MyFitnessKitchen, we design coaching around your life and coach the other 23 hours of your day, not just the workout.

2️⃣ “How have you evolved as a professional?”
Ask them to name one thing they used to do that they no longer do. If they can’t, they may be inexperienced or unwilling to grow.
