Yesterday, our Latrobe Hospital Family Medicine Residency hosted the 2025 Research Day. Our program was joined in participation by Heritage Valley Family Medicine Residency, Forbes Family Medicine Residency, and Cornerstone Care Family Medicine Residency for a total of 19 project presentations. The faculty and staff of the residency, are very pleased and proud to announce that our residents once again were very successful.

Drs. Corbin Drescher and Matt McAlister were awarded 2nd place in the Quality Improvement category with their presentation of, "Oral Penicillin Allergy Project."

Dr. Adam Burke won 1st place in the Presentation category with his project. "Fast Track to Efficiency: Reducing Hospital Admissions and Length of Stay."

Dr. Indiana Judy was awarded 1st place in the Best Overall Project category with, "SPINning to Success."

All of our residents who participated in Research Day did a superb job with their projects and presentations. The successes and overall quality of their projects is a testament to their hard work and diligence over the past year.

We are very proud of their accomplishments and commitment and they should be quite proud of themselves.
We can confidently tell you that in a program where excellence is the standard, all of our residents met and exceeded the standard.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to all!

What a wonderful experience Program Director, Dr. Semelka & PGY-2 resident, Dr. Gabrielle Beck had serving patients in Honduras. Dr. Beck especially enjoyed the creativity needed to care for patients in a low resource setting, while Dr. Semelka enjoyed caring for the pediatric patients. Both were grateful for an opportunity to put the unique strengths of a family physician to use serving families in need. Global medicine provides an irreplaceable learning and personal development experience for our residents, and we are excited to see how this program grows and develops in the future!
