Everyone knows, by now, the nutritional benefits of green beans and yams.

Green beans are rich source of vitamins A, C, and K, and of folic acid and fiber.

They're a great source of fiber, potassium, manganese, copper, and antioxidants. Yams are linked to various health benefits and may boost brain health and reduce inflammation.

If you ask me, that sounds delish.

I would eat them on Thanksgiving Day

BBQs are great to make yam fries

Has it ever happened to you? You are watching a movie and you hear a brilliant quote??? This is the brilliant quote from the classic chick flick movie Clueless.

“Do you know the wounds of adolescence can take years to heal?" said Cher (Alicia Silverstone) as she explains why she invested her popularity into the “new girl” at school.

This is why Craniosacral is so important for our children and adolescents. Craniosacral allows for the healing of physical and emotional wounds that occur during this sensitive age. Not only does Craniosacral help in healing these wounds years after, but it is a modality that can also help children and adolescents process these situations as they present themselves. If we can get to the “injury” before it forms a “wound” or a “scar”, then maybe we can save them.

In the Spirit of Christmas, here is a painting of Jesus treating a child. I firmly believe that Jesus was a MASTER of Craniosacral. My Craniosacral therapists will notice that we also practice this way and the hand placement is similar. Often, I have one hand on the head and the other doing a positional tissue release on the hand and wrist. Treatment that incorporates soft touch, acceptance and unconditional love is what other therapies are missing! THAT is what separates this modality from others. “Fixing”, forcing change, VERSUS accepting change. Making the body do something VS asking the body to do something. Jesus knew the healing power of unconditional love. That plus the endowment of healing power from his Father, it was no wonder how effective he was at treating the people in his community.

Demonstrated here is hand placement for release of the Respiratory Diaphragm! The bottom hand ✋🏻 is placed at the T12-L1 vertebral level and the top hand is placed right underneath rib cage.

If you swipe left, you will see this massive dome-shaped SKELETAL muscle (which separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominopelvic cavity). Not only are we releasing tensions in the diaphragm, but noticed all the structures that are being affected:

The aorta stemming from the heart 🫀 feeding oxygenated blood to the organs of the abdomen and pelvis and to the thighs, legs 🦵 and feet 🦶 .

The Inferior Vena Cava which drains deoxygenated blood from the the organs in the abdominopelvic region as well as from the legs and feet.

The esophagus, not shown in the picture, also transmits through the diaphragm.

Other huge structures that lie within my two hands are the liver and gallbladder important for and , the pancreas important for secretion and for the of sugars, and the spleen important for .

I find that Craniosacral is almost IMPOSSIBLE to explain in an elevator speech. It really takes a book with illustrations and about 400 words to explain Craniosacral. Realistically, The only way to truly understand Craniosacral is by getting it done.

This is a wonderful resource for parents and children to understand a little bit more about this alternative medicine modality. The wonderful part about Craniosacral is that it can be integrated into life as physical and emotional traumas happen and also integrated into other therapies your child may be getting for a condition they might be struggling from.

Craniosacral treatment of Jaw Pain and the Emotional Component.

There is a concept in Craniosacral known as “The Avenue of Expression”, which involves the structures of the upper chest, the anterior neck and the mouth.

It is really hard to express a difference in opinions these days and some people feel trapped in their own bodies. They keep their mouths (jaws) jammed shut or else they will be called horrible names and, in some states, maybe they’ll get beat up... just for having a difference in opinions.... being a potential cause of TMJ pain!

My pearl of wisdom is to get your words out somehow.... whether it’s with craniosacral or mental health counseling... EXPRESS yourself!
