Darren Dickens Licensed Professional Counselor

Darren Dickens Licensed Professional Counselor MS, LPC-S Christ commands us in Matthew 22:37-39 to love God, to love people, and to love ourselves.

As God has called and equipped me to love people, He has taught me how to help people love themselves and others. I do not profess to be a healer nor do I promise a better life to all that I serve. Rather, I strive to help others identify themselves as the created image of God, and to live fulfilled in their life, family, and work. My goal as a therapist is to help client's find the good in their life, assist them in making it better, and enabling them to live their best.

Trust is the evidence of transparency. Transparency and trust are intrinsically linked. Transparency, meaning open and honest communication, is a foundation upon which trust is built. When individuals are transparent, they demonstrate a willingness to be open and accountable, which fosters trust and credibility. Conversely, a lack of transparency can erode trust and lead to negative perceptions creating anxiety, doubt, uncertainty, and even manipulation.

You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Matthew 7:16 LSB

The BRACE model consists of Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Confidence, and EVIDENCE. Evidence serves as the measure of trustworthiness, growth, maturity, and love. The fruit of the Spirit exemplifies this evidence, observable within and through us. In our relationships, we should practice, strive for, encourage, and acknowledge these qualities both within ourselves and in each other.

Confidence is a positive trait characterized by self-assurance and belief in one's abilities, while arrogance is a negative trait marked by excessive self-importance and a belief in superiority. Confidence is rooted in a genuine sense of self-worth and is open to feedback, while arrogance is characterized by an inflated sense of self and a refusal to consider other perspectives.

Thank you all who have served!

Confidence matures in service.

Serving others provides numerous benefits, including boosting mental health, reducing stress, increasing happiness, and fostering a sense of purpose. It also enhances social support, encourages a more active lifestyle, and can even improve self-esteem.

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 ESV

Confidence and codependency represent opposite ends of a spectrum related to self-esteem and healthy relationships.

Melody Beattie, writes that codependency often stems from a lack of self-confidence and self-worth. Codependent individuals may base their sense of self-worth on external validation from others rather than internal self-assessment.
In her book "Codependent No More" Beattie recognizes consequences of poor self-confidence:
Low Self-Esteem: The need to seek validation from others to feel good about oneself.

Dependency on Others: Relying heavily on others for approval and prioritizing others' needs over your own.

Lack of Boundaries: Difficulty setting and maintaining healthy boundaries can lead to feelings of guilt or inadequacy.

Enabling Behaviors: In efforts to maintain relationships, we enable unhealthy habits and behaviors, creating feelings of low self-esteem and a sense of being responsible for others' well-being.

Self-Sacrifice: Codependents may sacrifice their own needs and desires in an attempt to please others or avoid conflict, which can lead to feelings of emptiness and low self-esteem.

Reclaiming self-confidence involves recognizing your worth, challenging negative thoughts, and taking steps to build a positive self-image. It's a journey of self-discovery, self-compassion, and embracing your own strengths.
