Martha Needs You to Share Your Spare Kidney I have PKD and need a kidney transplant to live without dialysis.

Last year I started working on get on the kidney transplant list at UMMC in Jackson, Ms. So I asked for you to please think about donating one of your kidneys to me so I wouldn’t have to go on dialysis. During the testing they found out I need two heart stents. I got them put in place in November. I also need a spinal fluid leak repair surgery before they would put me on the list. I put the spinal fluid leak surgery off because we found out my husband had cancer. I have decided to not have the leak repair surgery at all (I have had already had three of them). So that means I can’t get a transplant. I have just put it in God’s hands to take care of me and my family. I am at peace with this decision and plan to live a good long life.
If you can please think about donating your extra kidney to someone now or at least when you die. So many people are dying everyday who need an organ donation.

I fail to mention that my insurance will pay for the donor’s testing and surgery. The donor should only be in the hospital one night after the surgery. You may still donate even if you don’t live in Mississippi. If you are interested in doing this please let the hospital know it is for me.

I started this new page in hopes that I can find someone who will share their spare kidney with me before I have to start dialysis. Will you please share it with your family and friends. Thank you and I could use your prayers during this time.

Hello, my name is Martha Jones Kidd. I have lived all my life in the Great State of Mississippi. I am a Christian, a wife, a mother of two, and a grandmother of four, a retired schoolteacher and a lover of flowers. I inherited Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) from my father. PKD is a disease that fills the kidneys with multiple cysts that fill with fluid. These cysts shut down the kidneys, grow on the outside of other organs and cause pain.
My father and three of his four sisters inherited PKD. My father and two of his sisters and several cousins spent many years on dialysis. I have known for over thirty years that I had PKD. In the past few months my kidney function has dropped a lot and it won’t be long before I have to go on dialysis or find a living donor in order to live.
My blood type is 0 + but I am on a Paired Exchange Program so the donor doesn’t even have to have the same blood type.
My husband of 54 ½ years has Parkinsons and can’t give a kidney. Our son has already been diagnosed with PKD. Our daughter hasn’t been tested but has the symptoms of PKD. The grandchildren are all too young. Other family members are up in age and have health problems.
My family is very important to me. I would like to receive a kidney and get over the surgery before my husband becomes totally disabled. Being on dialysis would be very hard to do and care for my husband.
If you are interested in being a living donor, please contact livingdonor@umc.edu or 601-984-5065.
Thank you for your consideration.
Please share your spare.
