This is what direct access looks like. A patient has a 3 week trip to Europe coming up in about a month. She began to experience heel pain with concerns it would affect her ability to walk on her trip. She made a quick call to our clinic and was seen the next day and was found to have classic signs of plantar fasciitis.

We have started addressing her pain and inflammation of her foot as well as addressing some issues with mechanics in her hip. Footwear has been discussed and she has been given a foot kit with toe spacers and a lacrosse ball to use at home, alongside additional exercises.

She is now on her way to decreased pain and has several tools to help her enjoy her upcoming trip!

We have exciting news! Effective today, July 1, Mississippi is now a direct access state for physical therapy!! This means that you may now see a physical therapist without a physician referral. Most insurances pay for this service and a little later we will talk about some reasons why this is so beneficial to you, the patient. Lori, Sara and Clark have over 65 years of combined experience. This goes a long way in our ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat your musculoskeletal conditions! Call us with any questions you might have about direct access or to make an appointment!

Seven years ago Optimal Performance opened with the goal of making patients feel better in a caring, understanding environment and the drive to serve our area in a clinic owned and operated solely by physical therapists. We have strategically created our practice to make sure we create an environment that is safe, fun and welcoming to enable us to be able to do what drives us. And that is serving our patients with personalized attention, relying on the years of experience of our dedicated staff.
